The Victory Show, Cosby, Leicestershire

Thought I'd share these pics I snapped today with you chaps.
(Just posted them on a.n.other forum too, so apologies for repetition to those that visit there)






















Great show, some rare vehicles, very friendly, some nice planes (P51, Yak, Dakota, and a Spitfire 'dogfighting' with the 'Messerschmitt' (Buchon) was great.)
Main mock battle was the best I've yet seen, explosions & fire galore.
There was also a highly entertaining seperate clash between Germans and the Red Army set in Lithuania confused, fought between two trenches about 30 feet apart, with apparently as many auto weapons as possible. Very noisy.
On again next year, & definitely worth attending.

Good to see that you had some 'visitors' from the Duxford September Airshow - the Dakota is an honest-to-gosh D-Day veteran, and is known to have flown two missions on the Day.

Here she is on the grass at Duxford yesterday morning.....

 

She's a pleasing old dear for sure.

I believe so, cut and shut with an extra wheel station added, among much other work, for Band of Brothers (?).

 

Get on the horn, and tell those boys with the US tanks in the second photo that they're too bunched up.

Disperse damn it, disperse! Must be replacements from the Flaming Piss-Pots.

It definitely is not a StuG. About the size of a Hetzer but something different because Hetzers did not use side skirts. ?????

As for reborn Fv-432, you may be right on. The wheels look exact. Great eyesight and knowledge Wessex.

 

The C-47 looks almost perfect. If it had the round cut outs in the passenger windows for polking your rifle out the window then it would be just right !

Great pictures Adam ! I really like the big green diesel tractor. I saw a show with one of those and they started the engine with a shot gun shell

Justy registered after searching for photos of the Victory Show.
The pyro is mine.. Planned the battle too. My team look after that part of the Victory Show. we build, place and det the SFX. We have the field set up and we marshal and time everyone's exit adn entry. The in between bits are somewhat adlib.

This show is the biggest in the Midlands - It's also regarded widely now as possibly the best WWII re-enactment event in the UK. You can find out more about it here

The StuG IS a FV432 and has no extra wheel., It's not cut and shut. It is nearly the same size as a StuGIII (The replica is actually representing a Sturm Haubitze III with the 120mm gun!) Nice one mate, this years battle and last years were great fun.
Certainly no shortage of bangs courtesy of yourself, my boys absolutely loved it. Didn't shift the smiles from their faces for half an hour afterwards.
It's always particularly good to see 'Tommy Atkins' out in force at Cosby as the Yanks always dominate at Beltring.

(got a fair few more pics of explosions if that's what you're after? Haven't checked 'em for quality yet but I'd be happy to pass the worthwhile ones on.)

Interesting project. On its own, the Stug looks great. When there are people on it, it looks scaled down. Excellent work. Thanks.

I'd be quite grateful of any stills and indeed video of the battle particularly exposions. By studying them we can improve them. It's like studying the fall out from a bang - we can gauge the safe working distance......

Victory is a good show and I agree the Yankees dominate the battles. I am a bit fed up of being tasked with a "Tommy get's Mullahed by Jerry, Uncle Sam breezes in and saves the day" Need to have something different - Tighter. More controlled....

Might even have another show in the Midlands next year with some more AFRA ideas made real..... watch the skies!!!

And any of you from the forum - do say hello. It breaks the monotony of wiring up things that go Boom!
