That is a horrible show. I was forced to watch it when I was younger babysitting my neice. I don't know what kids learn from that show.

We would watch M*A*S*H together. Now that was a show we both enjoyed watching. It still surprises me how a one year old could be glued to the tv set watching M*A*S*H. I guess the apple don't fall too far from the tree :D

Seems that "Drinky-Winky" and its comrades aren´t your favourite! As i had to watch it with my daughter i asked myself if that show was created to make dumb idiots out of intelligent kids.
I like those old and in education high valued TV shows like M*A*S*H and Hogans Heroe´s very much!

I too was forced to watch the show as a result of watching over, siblings, younger cousins, etc.

But I kind of liked it.

Well it seemed like a good educational show full of silly dumb fun. Reminded me a bit of my own youth. :D

It was on the air for some reason. Luckily I missed out on that stuff with my kiddos.
What did you watch as a kid that seems a little sketchy now?

When I was a kid? Okay, When I was a kid we only had three television stations to choose from. All went off the air at midnight and ran a test pattern until 1 or 2 in the morning. Saturday mornings were the only time cartoons could be seen. And then only until around 11:00am. Way back then in "Times gone by" the popular cartoons were not "educational" nor meant to be. Woody Woodpecker, Deputy Dogg, and The Mickey Mouse Club are a few I can remember.
Having said that, if anyone has any questions about SpongeBob Squarepants just ask, I've seen every episode with the Grandson. And remember Boys and Girls, "Happiness is a warm snail".

How true that is. I remember getting up early on Saturday morning and turning on the TV to let it warm up. It wouldn't come on unitl the tubes got warm. Then, I watched the test pattern (there was an Indian in full war bonnet in one corner) until the cartoons started. I'm going even earlier than you Rog. I watched Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes. They were classics. During the week, nothing was on in the morning, then the soaps came on in the afternoon. 4:00 meant the Kate Smith show (her signoff was "When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain").

For me it was a diet of Ivor the Engine and later the Clangers, with a few magic roundabout reruns thrown in. We didn't really get morning cartoons until after my time, they were all on in the afternoon. I think because all the people making them over here had hangovers or bad trips to deal with in the morning :)

(I do wish we'd had Spongebob though - he has a soothing effect on me)

Hey I remember Looney-Tunes and Merrie Melodies too! Just forgot. I was born the year Mickey Mouse Club went on the air so you'll please excuse the memory lapse. First thing to go you know. I didn't mention the old tube type television (just have to explain it to the youngens') but I do remember going to town and rummaging around Mr Korty's repair shop to find replacement tubes. And fighting with the "tuner" and antenna.
And Kate Smith? !! Watched her, along with Jack Benny, George Gobel, and Red Skelton. Ah, for the good old days! :)

That show only succeeds in dumbing down our kids down even more.

Well there was Barney and The Magic School bus, Reading Rainbow too for educational stuff but that was just about it. Even as a kid, I wasn't much into the kids stuff persay, was more into the classic Disney, Universal, etc stuff. And then there were the various variations of the Cosby show, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, etc (yes, I did not fit my age :D).
