    Hi all,
Some of you have already read about us in other forums, where we presented. For those of who haven´t already read anything for us I would like to introduce the Tommy & Yankee association from Pilsen, Czech Republic. We’re small group of guys interested in military history, mainly focused on the British and American army in WW2. Our British section portrays members of Durham Light Infantry and 1st SAS. But I will further speak only of our US section.

Our group was put together 4 years ago and we decided to portray also 2nd Infantry Division, 9th Inf. Regiment. The biggest reason was that this unit participated on liberation our city (Pilsen) and West Bohemia. But we also portray some more infantry units, for example 34th Infantry Division. So far we participate only on few public battles. Most of our activity is on military displays and our own maneuvers. Our aim is to display US GIs in proper way. We’re in touch with some 2nd division vets and some of them still visit Czech Republic on Liberation festival in May every year. [IMG]

Our plan in the future is to be able to display most of infantry unit of ww2 and also some special units as well.

Here is link to our facebook page. You can browse it without joining if interested.

We have official website as well but it’s not finished and translated into English yet so sorry for that.
    KVH Tommy & Yankee o.s.

To get an idea here are some pictures of us, please share your thoughts!
    Thank you very much! [IMG]

Thanks for your reply, I will add a few photos yet and it will suffice for now :)

This is the second batch of photos from Pilsen Liberation Festival 2011. On the second picture we are with Mr. Earl Ingram, a veteran of Co. L. 38th 2nd ID IR and Mr. Charles Noble, Jr., son of Col.. Charles H. Noble, the Liberator of Pilsen. :) The photos are mainly of the U.S. part of camp. If you are interested, here are more photos of the Czechoslovak part of the camp: malype | Slavnosti svobody 6.-8.5. 2011 ? rajce.net

    Hello again,

I will try to describe a bit the following photos. At the beginning of June we’ve organized in one czech town two living history “performances” and by some photos I’d like to show you how it looked like.

The first one was called “La Représsion” and it was a bit smaller but very energic and if you know the famous 'Allo 'Allo! series you’ll surely see some similarities. Two Gestapo members came to Café René to arrest an owner of the café who was forced to identify two French men suspected from resistance activities. During the row one of them was shot to death. The lives of the other civilians were saved by SAS troops which fastly burst into the scene. Their attack was unexpected and vigorous. Two German managed to escape, the rest of them didn’t. After SAS troops made the place “safe” again, they left as quickly as they had come. Additionaly they captured one Nazi vehicle. That was the end of the performance which had lasted for about 20 minutes. The big advantage for spectators was that everything was very close to them.

The next performance depicted the battle on the outskirts of the Carentan city in June 1944. All the reenactment groups represented units which had really fought near Carentan. Our reenactment group represented 327th GIR which were during the battle followed (or more precisely – 327th GIR which followed J) two M8 Greyhound of 2nd AD. It was the fast advance of the troops through the field where Rommelspargel („Rommel’s asparagus“) were placed.

And now here are the photos...

Well, from one Thomas to another, nicely done! Impressive re-enacting. I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite picture (not counting those of the lovely ladies, of course!)

Great re-enacting, with top-notch photos. Your association seems to have covered all the bases. I envy your group, especially the ladies.

P.S. I wasn't sure which one to salute, so I chose the one with the medics.
