    Too funny, or sad depending on your point of view I suspect. I found this in the Time magazine archives.

    June 25th, 1945:

    Out at Home

    From Oakland California, Major Walter J. Boyne, recently discharged from the Army, set out on a motor trip with 1944 license plates, made it as far as New Rochelle, N.Y., before he was nabbed by a cop — five blocks from his house.

    hehe, poor guy. nice way to welcome home a war vet by giving him traffic ticket.. Those crazy New Yorkers! hehe
