Here is a list of YouTube Videos of the tornado. It appears to have heavily damaged the city and the local university, Southern Miss.

The storm is apparently hammering the area where my parents live in south Alabama right now. There is has been a tornado near their house, but apparently it was not on the ground.

Blimey,,,we have squirrels here,,,they are quite dangerous...Nope...I am glad I live here and not there...a bit of snow closes us down so what we would do with Tornado's....

When I checked the radar yesterday there was a line of thunderstorms from San Antonio to Chicago, nearly unbroken. That's twister weather here in the Alley.

As I was young and blissful once I bought a mobile home and placed it on the Eastern side of New Mexico in the LLano Estacado and few people realize they have tornadoes there.....I was quite uninformed......experienced some of the scairy tornado weather there that erased barns and homes across the highway from us leaving me intact. I was able to watch the approach and endured many storms that resulted in tornadoes. However often there was no warning as we were on the fringe of radar of that day between Amarillo and Albuquerque. After a while I noticed everyone around me had their storm cellar to crawl into while I sat in the mobile home shaking. Warning or not I have always remembered this and feel for every community that suffers tornadoes. When I could afford to, I moved and this was one of the reasons I used to justify my moving decision. To date I hear no news about the tornadoes in this area....but I know first hand that they do happen. A resulting hail storm from one tornado pelted the side of the trailer leaving 3/4" dents all over one side of the metal siding but being young my argument with the insurance adjuster resulted in insufficient funds to replace a single panel, despite being fully insured.

I could not believe how much rain we received last night. I've not heard the totals from anyone, but every low spot in the area is full of water. The creeks we pass over on the roads are flowing full. I cannot imagine that it is anything less than six or eight inches.

We've been having liters of rain or snow too. In the mountains it has been snowing non-stop at some place since mid-January and snow has been piling from 3 meters up to 5.50m which is higher than some houses and I just watched on the news that an entire village had to be evacuated due to avalanche risk. They 'd better not say we are suffering from draught next summer and use the excuse to charge us more .....

Slipdigit, I think our conversation the other day (where you talked about Tornado's) may have influenced the weather. We mentioned Snow and how I just finished plowing the driveway and guess what happened? Another 8 to 10 inches of the white stuff last night with drifts up to 4 feet in places. Only good thing about snow is it melts slowly and no flooding. Until the end of March anyway. With the rain and snow here in the North Land watch out this Spring! Expect the Mississippi to be near flood stage again.

I don't think there is any safe place to live in this country. Earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, snow storms and hail now seem to be the norm. Guess I'll just hunker down and wait. Better weather must be on the horizon, I hope.

Just do what I do, Lou. Get a weather alert radio and quit watching the weather reports on TV. Those folks make every change in the weather sound like the end of the world is coming.

I must admit to having a fascination with tornadoes since I was a kid. However, I don't take them or the damage they do lightly. I always get a sinking feeling when I see the debris in the air knowing that so many lives are being disrupted or perhaps even lost. I was happy to read that Jeff's folks were apparently spared from any storm damage. Unfortunately, many were not.

It has rained like you would not believe here over the past two days. We have gotten between 8 and 10 inches since Sunday evening.
