Good morning! I'm attempting to confirm which outfit my wife's grandfather served with during the war. His files were a casualty in '73. Fortunately the family has a copy of his discharge document, but it lists his unit as the Med Clearing Company he was in after being wounded (which unfortunately ended up on his grave marker). He was trained as an MP and I have a photo of him wearing MP brass and liner, but he was also an infantryman and was awarded the CIB by the 101st Infantry in late '44. I'm assuming he was sent to the 101st as a rifleman due to manpower shortages and was possibly then returned to the 26th MP platoon after being wounded. If anyone has any rosters, AARs, unit journals, morning reports, GOs, etc that could help me confirm this info we would greatly appreciate it! He was WIA 23 Nov '44 and 31 Dec '44. He was awarded the CIB 1 Dec '44 GO #11 HQ 101st Inf.

looks like it says his CIB was issued in accordance with a GO for the 101st Infantry (Box #31)

His campaign stars were issued for the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe( Box #32)

EAME Ribbon for Nov. 44 and December 44 (Box #44)
That corresponds with the stabilization after Market Garden (Nov.) and The Battle of Buldge(Dec.)

He has a Purple Heart with an Oak leaf cluster which means he was wounded twice.

All that tells me he was in the 101st Infantry Regiment of the 26th Division

    Welcome Aboard

I guess I should have read your entire post, I apologize.

So everything you researched is correct.
As far as getting a new marker the Veterans coordinator at the cemetary should be able to get the ball rolling for you. You can request copies of Morning Reports from the National Archives but that takes time and it might be overkill.

You could try contacting NARA II in College Park, MD to see what records they have for the 110th Infantry. Regimental records will often list PH and CIB recipients. You should be able to request a listing of the documents that they have, which usually doesn't take very long.
