Trying to locate service record of RAF AC1

My late wife's uncle died or was killed in India in December 1942 whilst serving as an Aircraftsman !st Class, with the Royal Air Force Volunteer reserve . He is buried in the Madras War Cemetery, Chennai.
Six days before he died he wrote home in good health and said that he was nowhere near to the fighting. I believe that it is possible to obtain details of the cause of his death from his service record, but I don't know from where in spite of researching on the internet.
Can anybody help?
