    :)

Paris Hilton was let out of prison after serving only 3 days of her 45 day sentence apparently due to some medical condition. The judge who sent her down was pretty p***ed off as he expressed that no such exceptions or get-out-of-jail-free cards were allowed.

She has now been sent back to serve the remainder of her sentence due to a parole violation involving a car and alcohol.

Now, I'm not much bothered about her or the specifics of her original crime but as far as I'm concerned the sentence of the court should have been carried out without exception - so how the hell can anyone justify letting her out after 3 days ? Really  what kind of message does this send to ordinary people who lack her privilages and what message does it send the world about American justice at a time when the USA is promoting democracy, freedom and justice around the world. ;)

This sort of shit pisses me off.

I wonder what would happen if I got put in jail, and a celebrity did the same thing. I would be pissed if he got 4 weeks at some cushy jail, while I got 5x the sentence in a federal prsion trying to keep the backpipe clear of any large obstructions

    .

I know she has her own separate cell with personal warden in attendance
but , paris in the "general population " going to the showers is a thought !!

I presume the L.A. porn industry will seize the business angle :D

as for celebrity justice , there is celebrity news and celebrity politics

Paris is a manufactured commodity ,
the young woman is unknown to me ,
she seem to be determined to make a lot of money from her image as a as a upper class ,tasty young airhead rather than inheriting it ,
which is O.K. by me , however she might not have read the fine print of the celeb status ... you can't switch it off

Hollywood is a land of it's own with it's own reality. It's a strange place where the idea of celebrity is held in awe and laws are just there because they're supposed to have them. There has been a saying around Hollywood since the 1940's that goes "Any publicity is good publicity".

Unfortunately, Hollywood is what most of the world sees of the USA. They don't get to know the real people this country.

hold your horses, a judge ordered that bimbo back to her cell, she was weeping and crying"mom, mom" when she was handcufed and put in to a sheriff cruiser,
so nobody is above the law!!!!!, that is the message that the judge give to everybody

Yeah - but she was originally let out and only sent back on a parole violation. I think the message is supposed to be that noone's above the law but they're going about it in a funny way.

Wasn't her sentence higher ?, but reduced to 45 days ?

dammit Paris suck it up(something you should know a bit about)its only 45 days. Your acting like a huge pussie(again, something you should know about), even for a girl

On the Daily Show they called the whole situation "the sha-skank redemption" lol

nope the original sentence was 45 but reduced to 23, but after all this mix up without judge authorization, the judge restore the original sentence, 45 days in the slammer!!!!

In California? I don't know. I read in my local newspaper a couple of weeks ago that there seems to be a lot of difficulty getting judges to throw the book at drunk drivers, even the repeat offenders (which, of course, explains why they're repeat offenders...). Time and again, these people are getting let off the hook, and no one seems to know exactly why.

Yeah, it's the same with sex offenders too.

One big problem we have in the UK is shortage of prison space - is it the same over there ?

Not really. Some judges just seem to think that 2 years in jail is the cure all for everything

I mean, like, nothing is done by politicians to combat the underlying social problems. Its just toss' em all in the big house.

Judges often send people such as drug users, and quite often mentally handicapped guys to prison instead of re-hab and mental institutions. They belong in rehab or a mental institution, not a prison.

There are penal facilities specifically for mentally challenged offenders.Menard prison in Illinois is one I know of.
Drug users definately belong in prison.Normally they are given the opportunity to enter some kind of rehab program. They get tested for drug use while in these programs. With the vast majority of offenders, they keep using drugs. To support the habit, they quite commonly steal everything they can get their hands on so they can sell it.This includes toys from their own children. In many cases, they are given the boot from their own families because the family can no longer tolerate all the bullshit that goes along with having a hype in the family.

Back on topic.....I'll go out on a limb and say most Americans are sick of Paris Hilton and feel she should serve her full sentence like anybody else.
For some serious CELEBRITY INJUSTICE,check out the R.Kelly case.
They have this scumbag on VIDEO having sex(among other things) with an underage girl. His case has been in the courts for almost five years unless I am mistaken. So much for the smoking gun theory.

I'll go even further out on that limb and state that most people everywhere are sick of Paris Hilton.
