I'm looking for an online resource containing deck logs or war diaries for the USS Indianopolis, from the attack on Pearl Harbor until 12/1943. The tragedy of it's sinking has many sites that detail this part of her history, but I am interested in her early war stuff. My Grandfather was an AA-Gunnery Officer during this time and I am trying to put together a "book" containing information on his service in WWII and after. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
I'm brand new to this forum, saw your post so I thought I'd answer it. You can go to ussindianapolis.org, then click on links, then click on information. They have a pretty good general history about CA-35. I have a copy of her War Diary from the National Archives from Dec. 5, 1941 to Jan. 30, 1943. If there is something specific you want to know about USS Indianapolis in this time period, let me know, I'll look it up for you.
    Good luck!

The Deck Logs have all been moved to the College Park, MD, facility of the National Archives. You can contact them via their website.
