    Anyone going to this?

I will be there all five days on the Leger Holidays Battlefield Tours stand - come and say hi, if you are there!

Billed as one of the World's largest Militaria fairs, it happens every Summer in the County of Kent, about 20 miles or so from the Channel Tunnel : -

Excellent day at Beltring yesterday - except that, try as I might, I couldn't find the Leger Tours stand so never got to meet 'Sommecourt'...doh!

Another very hot day with one huge thunderstorm at lunchtime - so this year I finally took some pics for the forum.....

First, the star of the show - The Jagdpanther which I never got to hear....

And there were some nice T-34s around this year :-

Hundreds of re-enectors, altough you had to say that many of the 'Waffen-SS' looked more like Volkssturm ....

My own prize for best re-enactor display went to the guys who put up a 'SPR/BoB/Normandy Church'-type diorama. Straight after the thunderstorm, it looked quite convincing....

And here's what it's really about for me - dealers from Holland, Belgium, Germany and Finland with stalls groaning under the weight of deact munitions.....

Amazing who you bump into browsing around the stalls at Beltring....on the left, isn't that....? No, surely not !

A Luftwaffe china dish , 2xMG131 rounds ( HE & AP )plus links, 7x151/20 rounds ( various HE, AP and incendiary ) plus links, a 1944 issue of 'Flight' magazine with Mosquito article, two small pieces of Stuka recovered in Finland plus a couple of secondhand books - about £60 in total.

We were right by the Miller Tent, and very close to the main entrance mate - huge 40ft coach, brochure stand etc. ;)

Never mind, see you next year, maybe?

Nice pics, Adam - at least you saw the Jagdpanther in action.....

Really sorry to miss you, Paul - that explains it : coming in through the main entrance I was too eager to get to the stalls area, and coming back out I was too exhausted, to notice your stand. :(

Oh yes - I'll be there again next year......

No worries, Martin. We hope to be in the same place next year, so you will know where we are.

Nice photos Adam - and nice to see you at Beltring!

Spent a few months in Canada, hard work but great fun. Just a shame I missed the whole summer season.

Here's to many more (hopefully) hot days of camping, buying rusty things, & breathing Tank-dust. :D

Got a bit of a slender hope we might just possibly see a real Panther there this year from Mr Wheatcroft.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Have fun guys, I'm missing it again due to work commitments. Can I suggest keeping an eye open for the Detling Military Odyssey this year as well, expecting some awesome displays and a greater living history content than Beltring. Other shows up and coming include the Peak Rail event in Derbyshire (August 4th and 5th) and Kelmarsh Hall in Leicestershire (11th and 12th August).

I really should keep an events diary on here for our UK based folks.
