Stronger? Well, Panther's gun and armor are stronger than the ones in T-34. Also, the motor in Panther is more powerful. Panther weighs more and is much more comfortable for the crew. It also cost a lot more than a T-34.

Don“t be afraid to start new topics. It is in fact encouraged. It saves the moderators from the headache of trying to figure out how to split the topic later.

Panther of course, since panther design are from of T34.
better armor, and maybe more comfortable for the crew, but more expensive, and take much longer to built, so the T34 can outnumbered the Panther...

The Panther was developed specifically to be far better than the T-34. And it was.
However it was also far more expensive, and available in far smaller numbers. ;)

the panther owned the russian T34 with his big gun and much better armor. so my conclusion is the panther is better then the T34

Consider it unanimous. Panther had better armor protection and better gun. It might not have been as cost effective but it was clearly the superior tank.

Considering the T34/85 this new model (appearing in early 1944) took a serious step forward in armament and turret design, but the fact that the armour of the hull wasn't improved meant that this put the tank on a par with the late Panzer IV types but nothing beyond that. The Panther still had a better gun and more armour; however it was about 50% heavier...

T-34/85s maneuvering behind your line could be a nightmare. The main strenght of Russian tanks then and even now is how maueuverable they are.

You can't exclude the guns either, the 85mm was almost as good as the 88.

Firepower and mobility. That spells initiative. :smok:

Actually the 85mm, of what I've read, was more or less comparable in penetrating power to the German 75mm L/48 and the American 76.2mm M1 series. This is definitely a step down from the 88mm on the Tiger I.

I agree with Roel, besides 88mm isn't in question since Panther had 75mm L/70 which is superior (in penetration of armor) to the 88mm L/56 of the Tiger I though inferior to the 88mm L/71 which is generally considered to be the best tank/antitank gun of the war.

The muzzle velocity of the Pzgr.39 (APCBC) is 773 m./s., and for the Pzgr.40 (APCR) it's 930 m./s.

if u compare the panther and the t-34 to an arm wresling contest the t-34 would have to use both hands and arms to stand a chance against the panther.

    also the panzer 5 had a nickname 2 .
