Do you mean 88 as In the calibre of a widely used German anti-tank gun in WW2? If so it simply means 88mm...

Nice signature by the way-I have the Erwin Rommel quote in mine also!!! [IMG]

Can you give us an example of what other context you have heard it used in. When ever i hear '88', i think of the gun.

    Yes,

This is the 8th letter of the alphabet "H"....hence H.H. for Heil Hitler.

It is a "neo-nazi" sign. At least I have been told this.

    Why do you ask?

this is how I understand it as well. I am not one my self I abhor them as unorganized and uncouth. But I was still curious to see how many out there knew what it meant.

I would also like to make it quite clear, I am far from one. I am only a collector with historical interests.

"18" can stand for "Adolf Hitler" in the same way as "88" can for "Heil Hitler".

I've never seen the numbers used in this context, however.

I've never see the '88' used in this context, but here is a group in the UK called Combat 18, the 18 refering to AH as Andreas mentions above.
