    Enjoy the story of Wojtek

He was a Syrian honeybear who was adopted as a cub by the guys of the 2nd Polish Polish Transport company and later was given a rank and got officially drafted ..
He made such an impression on the guys that they chose him to be represented in the 2nd brigade's official emblem .

After the war Vojtek spent his days in Edinburgh's zoo where he died in 1963 . As a good soldier he loved cigarettes en booze :D

A monument is being planned for placement in Edingburgh to commemorate him and all fallen polish soldiers during WW2 .

Good Information : Voytek, the hero bear who went to war (and loved a smoke and a beer)

Polish bear 'that fought Nazis' to be commemorated - Telegraph

Bear who is said to have helped Polish troops battle invading Germans is to be commemorated with a statue in Edinburgh - the city where he 'retired' after the Second World War.

The £200,000 monument is to commemorate the extraordinary life of "Private Wojtek", a 6ft tall, 500lb brown bear who served alongside Polish soldiers -- and lived out his years after the war in Edinburgh Zoo.

A maquette of the planned work, by Scottish sculptor Alan Herriot, shows Wojtek's 'keeper', soldier Peter Prendys, placing a hand on the shoulder of the gentle giant, a stance he always adopted when the pair walked around camp together.
