Howdy all. I'm working on a wikipedia article on 1st Para in North Africa, as it's an area that isn't covered there as of yet. Now, I have Harclerode's Wings of War, Frost's A Drop Too Many, Thompson's Ready For Anything, Saunder's The Red Beret and of course Otway's official history. But these, apart from Frost's detailed account of the drop on Oudna, only give a cursory examination of the Brigade's actions in North Africa.

Can anyone suggest any other texts that might be helpful? I'm trying to find Brigadier Hill's Operation Torch - 1 Para Brigade in North Africa but it doesn't seem to be in publication. Any help in filling this hole would be gratefully received.

If you can find a copy of Churchill's Volunteer by Reg Curtis, who served with 1 Para there is a chapter on North africa, that should help:)

Blast, looks like that's a no-go, can't find it anywhere on Bookfinder or other book sites. Thanks anyway.

You could try Without Tradition by Bob Peatling...was reprinted in paperback by P&S a couple of years ago so ought to be relatively easily obtaniable.....only deals with the 2nd Btn though....

Cheers, airborne medic. I just ordered Wings of the Wing by Peter Staines, which seems to deal with Tunisia in some detail. I'll look up Peatling's book right now. Thanks!

Another suggestion would be as the 1st Parachute Brigade in NA consisted of 1st, 2nd, 3rd Parachute Battalions, the 1st Parachute Squadron RE and 16 PFA RAMC either on Wings of Healing or Red Berets and Red Crosses.....the latter two cover 16 in NA.....one in better detail IMHO than the other......

If I needed a book to get facts about 16 in NA I'd use RB's.....
