I am looking for a book I used to have. The title of it was World War II and it had a forward by Lord Mountbatten. The dustcover had a photo of a Soldat running forward in a crouch with his rifle in his right hand. My orignal one was destroyed in the flood of 2007. Anyone seen one of these? Would like to pick up another if the price is right. Funds are limited due to the economy.
Was it this one? Amazon.com: The American Heritage New History of WWII: C. L. Sulzberger, Stephen E. Ambrose: Books
Nope, thats not it. I can not remember the name of the author. I think the book was published in the UK in the 70`s. It was a pretty good sized book with a ton of great photos in it. The dust cover had a German Soldat on it with at the bottom it said forward by Lord Mountbatten. Thanks for the link PzJgr.
If I remember right, the book was found in one of those Bargin Bins at K-Mart!! Had a $2.99 or $3.99 sticker on it. Just wish I could remember who wrote it!!!!! Skipper you are right, that would make a great avatar.
I found the book on Amazon. They have copies of it for sale for 50 cents!!!! Looks like it was published with at least 2 different covers. I was close on the Mountbatten. World War II: Land, Sea and Air Battles 1939-1945. Contains a Foreward by The Earl Mountbatten of Burma - 253 pages - Battles are detailed in easy to find categories and some battles listed name-by-name. Great reference book;
Thats ok PzJgr. I found the book on ebay after about an hour long search. Then I checked the title on Amazon and found the ones for 50 cents.... Can`t wait to take a look at again!
