I've read lots of WWII history and novels, it is easily my favorite subject. I'm a newbie here by the way. You guys can call me Brett if you like. I'm really looking for a good novel. Eastern Front or Pacific would be great. I also love books about the "air war"
One of the best WWII novels I've ever read is "Bomber" by Len Deighton. It's about one mission in the life of a Lancaster. Warning: It's pretty depressing.
I highly recommend War of the Rats by David L. Robbins. It's the duel of two snipers in Stalingrad during that siege. He also has two others - Last Citadel - about the Battle of Kursk and The End of War. They are historical fiction but very well done.
Siege: A Novel of the Eastern Front, 1942 by Russ Schneider You can get in Amazon.com for $1.00 used.
I LOVED Last Citadel one of my favorite books. I didn't know he wrote war of the rats. I'll have to find it. I wasn't a big fan of End of War though, it got a little bit to in depth with the Russian character
Not Eastern Front & not Air Warfare but an absolute classic nonetheless - Das Boot by Lothar Gunther Buchheim. And considering that it is currently being sold on Amazon's Used & New section for just a penny you really can't go wrong.
