Hi, I've been reading a lot of US WW2 memoirs and I'm trying to work out which ones to buy next. To help I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the following. I'm particularly interested in whether the book is a proper memoir, the unit, the places he served and the degree to which he was involved in combat. I think these ones are from the Pacific. 'Great Men Cry Too' by Dan Darnell 'On the Canal' by Ore Marion 'Tanker; Boys, Men & Cowards' by E Luzinas 'The Old Breed of Marine' by A Felber 'Steel Helmet & Mortarboard' by Heller 'Above the Cry of Battle' by Holsinger 'The Young Draftee' by Howell Any information would be very useful to me. Thanks!
OK what about these? Blackhawk Mission: From Europe to the Pacific in World War II by Chuck "Bernie" Bernstein STORIES FROM THE PACIFIC: THE ISLAND WAR 1942-1945 by Lawrence F. Kirby Trust. Truth. Rogal A Handsome Guy: True story of the elite Marine Scout/Snipers during the WWII Battle of Okinawa by Phillip R. Dolan Friendly Dead by T. G. Gallant
Yeah, they seem to be pretty obscure. While they're on the Amazon database there's precious few, if any, reviews and these tend to be too brief. I'll get a few to add to my existing list on the theatre, it's just a matter of deciding which ones. By the way, if anyone is curious, my list as it stands is here - Amazon.com: US Marine & Army Memoirs of the Pacific War
