I have a brother-in-law's grandfather that was in the OSS during WWII and I would like to find out some information on them. I am looking for a good starting point for him to look for a good book on the OSS during that time period. ......Any suggestions??? thx in advance, v\r TRB
AF4L, Do you know where he operated? Pacific, MTO, ETO? I have one book on the OSS, written by a guy names Olmstead or something who was an OSS officer in Holland during Market Garden. It is in Dutch though. Stevin
Well.......As the story goes. It was about 3-5 years ago when he started telling stories about his tours in the OSS, this one in particular was in Europe. He was fluent in German with an excellent accent so he was a forerunner for tactical covert ops. He posed as a very high ranking German officer, with two other comrades on his side also posing, they entered a room with highly decorated officers and the two called the room to attention in honor of this individual who was posing an officer and they all opened fire and killed 6-8 "real" German officers. Pretty extreme story...I'm not doubting his story, just looking to elaborate on it is all. To answer your question, Europe for that story, but also the Pacific if I remember correctly. Thx v\r TRB
