I am about to finish a book call ''In search of the Nazi Treasure'' book written by Jean-Paul Picaper.

This book talk about the gold that the Third Reich had Stoled to the jews and the implacation of the modern german, swiss an american bank.

I am pretty sure that some facts are true but it seems exagerate in some part. For example, they said that there is still a big german gold treasure somewhere in Germany in a restrictive military district...

If some of you had alreay read about this or about the nazi treasure...do you think all this is ''real'' or it is only a bestseller writting type book.

    Thank you

    Yes that's it....

suppose to have a mine where piles of gold are packed with different art artefacts as well.

the entry of mine should had been shot down by an explosion and now they are watching all of this territory by proclaiming this site a military one...

did your heard about this or is it some kind of lies?

I would say that it is urban myth type of thing. I would also sat that it could be that some items or caches of this kink could still exist in forgotten places. There was a forum thread in the last month or so about a bunker complex found in France and in 1995 in Hawaii a sealed portion of a bunker was explored that had not been opened since 1945. There was no "treasure" in these bunkers, only items from WWII, but it could have been the other way around.

The mine-full of gold and artefacts was the gigantic salt-mine at Merkers in Germany, liberated by the 3rd Army. See : -

'After The Battle' did a very good article about this and a good overall read is the book 'Nazi Gold' by Ian Sayer and Douglas Botting.

Most of the Nazi Gold has been accounted for but there's continuing fascination, with Austrian lakes being dragged, etc etc.

However, some gold in bags was dug up in Bavaria in 1945 and loaded onto Jeeps by unidentified 'CIC men' and was never seen again. Not tons, maybe, but enough to make a few people very wealthy for life....

I've seen a British TV programme on this. Watched it, taped it, taped over it. Had the feeling that if it was really thought to be true and worth all the effort, there would be a formal serious dig, no?

There's also the legend of the Drongo gold. The treasure Mussolini was supposed to have been trying to spirit away with him when he made his 1945 bid to leave Italy. However, opinion is that he did have goodies with him, but whether or not it was dumped into the river Drongo, it seems to have ended up in the coffers of the Italian Communists? The river has been serious dived several times and periodically someone starts up a treasure hunt. Fact is that none of the Partisans involved in his capture went on to be filthy rich, and, a section of the Italian Communists were rather well funded post war?

    Ok here's the real thing...

it is located at the north of Brixen in a place named Franzenfeste.

I will traduce to you the paragraph so let me know what you think.

'' Located just under a lake, The Franzenfeste has some undergrounds, sometimes has 30 meters deep were the nazis had placed this italien gold. A plane attack has broke some piece of the nearby mountain and then block the entrance till now. The Franzenfeste site is now military restricted due to the fact that it is supposed to have a lot of non exploded bombs in the area''

They said that the german don't whant to explore more because they don't want to reopen the gold debate.

Personnaly I don't think that this story is real but, if you had ear from it...

sorry for the translation, the original is in french

    Thank you
