I certainly would not have wanted to be there during the fighting. But standing in the forest, with only the sound of birds singing, made it hard to imagine the battle that ensued on the very same ground that I was stood upon. No problem at all, thank you for taking the time to look at my photographic efforts... Thank you, Halldin.
Hi Guys, hear it is the granade launcher was not found wth the rifle but looks great fitted the cleaning rod and bayonet lug still inplace the granade launcher its hard to make out in the picture but its stamped GGG Notice the damage to the side of the mag area I thing this is probebley where US soilder broke it round a tree or somthing large, as you can see the bolt is also missing the sight is set for the closest range as you would expect just before being over run the launcher still fits very well its a nice find (my best to date) but I wounder how many lives it took before it ended up like this
JP44 and pegasus certainly know how to 'twist the knife'.....a battlefield K98 ! My hands itch to start digging.......
Martin, you know you are more than welcome to accompany us on our next relic hunt. That 'Mk1 eyeball' of yours would be a great asset.
