Notice how the Soviet Mariepol back side is open and if the Ukrainians have enough reserves.. something with guns will come . Remember: rather a day as a lion than sheep for a lifetime. I've seen a few reports that Russian conscripts or recruits are being sent into battle with WWII-vintage Moisin-Nagant rifles (based on a pre-WWI design). I would think they'd at least have an adequate supply of old AK-47s.

 

I hope it’s wrong, but someone on CNN said yesterday that this war could last for years. I never expected that. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

 

I doubt Russia could sustain such a war…there has been and will continue to be some desperate measures taken by Russia to try and bring Ukraine to its knees and an end for Putin…Or…Putin could withdraw with some BS evidence of ridding Ukrainian of its Nazis…and pretend a win…Or something unexpected…Years though? Nope.

 

"Years though? Nope"..I don't know. These types of wars tend to become low-intensity generational things. If Putin were to pull his army out tomorrow, Ukrainians, in all likelihood would take out their anger against the Russians on the pro-Russian populace in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The people and those regions will strike back in retaliation, the cycle will then repeat. I would also expect border fighting between Belarus and Ukraine due to the formers support of Putin's invasion. I also suspect the Crimea will become fairly active with Ukrainian Special Forces running an insurgency there with the objective of destabilizing the puppet government there.
