I take it your referring to a Axis/German invasion of America? I would like to think the Nazis would have used V-2 rockets on New York to break the spirits of Americans and gone up through Great Britain then down from Canada into America.

 They have a better chance of building the Tiger in 41' which can swim!

I dont mean to be a pest, but unless you even attempt to more thoroughly explain such a mind boggling notion, im afraid you will get the same reaction from most of our members here. ;)

Example: The Russians were the first to develope and ICBM, the R-7 Semyorka more then a decade after the end of the war, during peace time and with all that she needed.... How is it that Germany ( with all of her shortages ) was going to create such a weapon in less then 3 years during a war which it was loosing??

Not to mention some how getting to canada after Britain........

Well, to be quite honest with you, I've never given it much thought as I have always thought the idea well beyond the realm of possiblity, considering that the Germans lost a considerable portion of their fleet taking Norway, were unable to cross the English Channel and their partners, Italians were unable to control the Med Sea.

There is a precedent of armed civilians beating the crap out of a industrialized nation (despite a 1:4 kill ratio or so). It's known today as Vietnam.

As for firearm statistics...this is for 1994, not 1945, but it shows something about the USA.

-44 million civilians own 192 million firearms

-65 million of those firearms are handguns

That was just enough guns to arm every single adult in the USA, and is ever so slightly more than the firepower of the French Resistance or the Volkssturm combined.

By the way, the Volkssturm didn't work because they knew that the war was lost. Most civilian Germans simply did not want to die for a lost cause. Now, if you have a cause to fight for...well, there are plenty of examples of that.

I would have thought the ratio to be even greater, unless you are also counting ARVN casualties.

V2 which lacked the range and (as demonstrated in london) the ability to break morale?

Gone through Britain? Because of course the UK is so much closer that it would make a real difference!

That's the alternative reality I so often dream about.
PS: It takes skill to make such a photo.

At least they have cool helmets instead of those rediculouse berets and baseball hats your lads insist on wearing, hell, if the US army needs anything it's a 'sartorial adviser.'

Nice Photo shop rendering from Paris, I believe;):D

    Q. Why did the French plant trees along the Champs Elysees?
    A. So the Germans could march in the shade.

Q: How many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?
A: Nobody knows, it's never been tried.

Q: How can you identify a French Infantryman?
    A: Sunburned armpits.

Q: How many gears does a French tank have?
A: 4 reverse and 1 forward, in case the enemy attacks from the rear

Did someone mention Vietnam...Hey how bout that Jane Fonda....I think a caveman dragged her by her feet.....:D:D:D

The more you hate me.... the more you will learn... U rah!!!

My stars, those berets are so rediculous. I hate them.

I've seen you limeys wearing those berets. One well know British general wouldn't be photographed without his.

Baseball caps actually serve a good function, shading the eyes, as opposed to the beret, the tam or the glengarry which just sit there and ooze national pride.:D

that is funny, and I'm sure thats exactly what the German people thought of Hitler and the military going into other countries. I'm sure you think that the U.S. going into Iraq was for the protection of the world/USA? just like some think Hitler going into other countries like Russia was for the protection of the Third Reich/Germany.
