    Courage

    We know what now hangs in the balance.
    We understand what is happening.
    Our clock is striking the hour of courage.
    And courage will never desert us.
    We do not fear to be shot death,
    Nor feel bitter at losing our homes.
    But we well defend our Russian speech;
    And guard you, great Russian tongue.
    Free and untarnished, we will carry you through
    And save you from bondage, for our children, Forever.

    I just wanted to share this poem with you. It was written by Anna Akhmatova, generally regarded as the greatest Russian woman poet of all time.
