I guess my post would be similar to Joe's.
QUESTION 1: How would the turn structure look. Copying the example you PM'd
    CMBBround1_MussolinivsSomme_R_001
    CMBBround1_MussolinivsSomme_G_001

Would the turn progression look like?
    CMBBround1_MussolinivsSomme_R_001
    CMBBround1_MussolinivsSomme_G_001

    CMBBround1_MussolinivsSomme_R_002
    CMBBround1_MussolinivsSomme_G_002

In other words everytime you send a file the last number only changes?
QUESTION 2: After the victor has been determined do we switch our country for the last game?
QUESTION 3: Will this tournament be Round Robin or will it be on a playoff bracket?
QUESTION 4: If this is based on playoffs what happens in the event of a tie?

    Thank you for your help.

PS: I finished up with Call of Duty World at War just in time. However now I'm kicking myself that I haven't been practicing Combat Mission.

Correct. You change the last digit of each file name. So, if I were to start things off, all my turns sent to my partner would look like:

    001
    003
    005
    007

And so forth. My partner should be sending me turns like:

    002
    004
    006
    008

    Rather simple, really.

Play both games at the same time. One from the German Perspective, one from the Russian Perspective.

You will be required to take a screenshot of the end-screen after the battle. A tie is extremely unlikely based on a points standpoint. If there is a tie, I will tackle that at that point.

This tournament is also single elimination. Whoever comes out on top advances, whoever loses is done for. I am possibly considering a 'Losers Bracket' for those who are eliminated in this first round. No award will be awarded.

Also, for those who advance (4 of you) there will also be a battle for 3rd place using the same map as is chosen from the Championship game.

    Thank you for the clarification.

The beginning of this week I will be out of the state until Thursday evening. Hopefully this will not prove to be a hardship, otherwise I should be good to go. I'll have to try to get a move in before I leave in the morning.

Have the other maps been chosen?

Will they be your maps, or randoms?

Trollville (which needs a quick tweak) will most likely be the Round 2 Map. The final Round 3 Map has not been decided upon yet.

I don't trollville. I am currently playing Otto on that map, and he has devastated my entire mechanized arm. I don't the fact that combat starts on the first round, and that there isn't enough room to manoeuve into better positions, it is kinda predictable as to where the enemy will be, unlike a random map where you have the entire map and have the ability to ambush.

    But whatever.:)

Trollville is most certainly imbalanced Tomcat, but we do have the benefit of playing both sides, so it evens out.

I suppose so, It is my own fault for the massacre that is following in our game.

Well, it didn't help that you were playing the map for the first time and I've played it before, as well as the 5 extra tanks I started with. You are doing quite well however, as your panzershreck sneak attack reduced my number by a couple tanks at least.

I actually expected it to go a little better, but you spotted my troops too early.

I haven't played the Trollville map yet but I paired the German and Russian tank in this scenario against each other and the Russian tank won 2 out of 3 skirmishes. The time the German tank won it just happened to have a hull down position. It appears the T34 tank with it's superior armament and speed would win more often than not.

It might not hurt to test this map out with equal numbers of tanks on each side.

I was just reading feedback from the above posts and wanted to see what these tanks fought like 1 vs 1 and it does appear that this scenario would favor the Russians.

The Russian tanks will be downgraded from T-34/85s to T-34/76s in the trollville map. I don't think it will matter too much, as the engagement ranges are 300 or 400 meters, which is close enough to make most tanks lethal. The disparity in armor is to balance the fact that the Germans have a good number of panzershreck teams, and the Russians have no comparable unit.

Not to mention the natural Anti Tank abilities of the German Infantry should they also get close enough to Russian Armor. Makes for an interesting battle, to say the least.

Just got a text message from Peppy asking about restarting this. Anyone interested completing the tourney? I'd at least like to let the remaining players go on to establish a winner. I still have a trophy sitting on my shelf for the champ.:crown:

The last time I loaded up CMBB I ran into some kind of compatibility issues which made the game unplayable. The bad thing in moving forward with computer upgrades is that it renders some older games obsolete.

Have you had a go with CMBN yet? The graphics and game engine was overhauled with this game release. I have the game but haven't really sat down to look it over that well because I am playing another game and the onset of Summer finds me outdoors much more often.

Unpinning this, hopefully we can resolve the outcome one day.

Agreed. I know if you purchase the CMBB/CMAK Bundle ($40) on Battlefront, it works on Windows 7 now. There once was a Vista issue, which a patch (that I think you had to pay for?) fixed. Buying the downloadable version of the game now includes said patch and I have not run into any problems playing on Windows 7.
