Here is another quiz: Are You a Yankee or a Rebel? - alphaDictionary * Advanced Southern Accent Test It told me I'm the duke of yankeedom.
70% Dixie. Well under the Mason-Dixon Line. Being the Texas Ambassador to Ohio is having some negative affects, you'uns
Good thing I's moved to the North Woods, Gotta' 41% on the second test. My wife lost her New England accent after about 15 yeers in Illinois. I'm wonderin' what a few years in Minnesota will do to us? An awful lot of "Yeh, ya' bet cha" and "How ya' doin' eh"?
I'm English AND a Proud Reb!! Bobby Lee, Pete Longstreet, George Pickett, Scarlett O'Hara.......The South will rise again............and at least one Englishman will be behind ya!! Yeee-Haa!!
My father always said Hoosier weren't nothing but Hillbillies with their brains knocked out. (He was born in Texarkana. )
33% Dixie...I'm a yank and not even 'in country'....perhaaps I watch a little too much East Coast TV? I have heard from Americans on both sides of the Mason-Dixon that the accent from your wonderful country is becoming either East Coast, (Principally NY NY, as heard in 'Seinfeld', or Californicated, (as heard in 'Myth Busters'). Television is changing the way the American accent is spread, with he exception to all of this somewhere South in Dixie. Funny how there isnot much televisionn for export coming out of the South. I have always liked Southerners, and feel that the nth/Sth differentiation defines Americanism. Yes, you are referred to as 'Yanks', but the very differences that create 'Yanks' are born of the South. Little Southern joke from a Northerner... Q: How do you truly know you're a Southerner? A: When the number of cars in your yard exceeds the number of dogs under your porch! So, ducking the boots thrown from outraged Southerners, I'll sign off....
What does an Aussie wear for Aftershave?.......................... Mint Sauce...............................
76% Dixie. Your neck must be a just little rosy! well I guess that's what happens when I live in the central hub for southern Indiana and have a largely farmer family.
Ha Ha! Probably some truth to that. My ggg-grandfather came to the county I reside in during 1828 from Eastern Kentucky, as did many other families here. My brains are still intact though!
57% "barely Dixie." Probably because I've lived alot of different places so I don't have much of a regional accent of any sort.
If determining whether or not im Southern (BY THE GRACE OF GOD) or a Yank-depends on answering questions about Football, im screwed. I HATE all things Football. Anyway, ill now go attempt to give it a shot. If it doesnt work on my puter? then y'all'll have to wait till I get back to the library-probably on Saturday? to give it a shot. Heck, you guys know my absolute favorite meal is: Chicken-Fried-Steak w/ Cream Gravy, Buttermilk Biscuits-French Fries and Blackeyed Peas. Well, drop off the Blackeyed Peas bit, I tossed them in just to sound more Southern
HA!!! 100 percent Dixie!!!! One I had an issue with was with the one that showed how you pronounce the word; Creek. Here we pronounce it CRICK-not kick.
You wouldn't happen live near Gettysburg Lou? That might explain some of your vernacularites that are similar to Southernisms.... Well, kiss my grits and grillads, I got 100% DIXIE. Yeeeehaaaaaaaaaa! No, General Lee isn't my grandpaw, but somehow the term "Uncle Bobby" is appealing for some reason.
I'm not even American and I'm 22% dixie .. it's funny because most of my answers were from the great lakes and michigan region. I live in that area (Border city to Detroit) I always thought my city was more American than Canadian. Yehaw, I'm a dandy yankee doodle.
