Arnhem autographs are great to collect. I have an autographed book collection that contains books and photos signed by various general officers and participants of that battle to include, Sir Brian Horrocks,CO of XXX Corps,Maxwell Taylor, CO of 101st Airborne Division, Wilhelm Bittrich, CO of II SS Panzer Corps, Heinz Harmel, CO of 10th SS Panzer Division, etc. It's great to have this collection.

Hi Jim--very nice collection. All I have are three books which are signed.

"The Last Knight of Flanders" signed by Remy Schrijnen.

"Shooting The War" signed by Otto Giese.

And a book on Martin Drewes adventures as a NJG ace--signed by him. Books status is currently unknown thanks to my recent move. :(

Carl, I thought you took one of your sub books to Deutschland to have signed by remaining crewmembers of U-181 ? hmmmmmmm.....

I've got around 40 books right now signed most with signatory stickers that I have sent off with many a letter and in return I aks for at least 4 white stickers to be signed. makes a nice front piece to a rather dull book sometimes.

working on sending another three letters out to Germany next week.......windows of time are getting shorter gentlemen !

I'm really quite envious, Jim !

I have Horrocks' autograph, but Bittrich & Harmel ? But still, I'm very pleased to have Urquhart, Frost and Hackett plus Jim Gavin....

Sorry Erich--nope. I only had 2 books with me--one for strictly reading which was James Lucas's Kommando--but--I took the Flanders book for Remy to sign for me. I was given the "Shooting the War" book by the vets at the reunion. I didn't think at that time to ask them all to sign it--and i have regretted it ever since. 4 of those gents have since passed away. :( :( :( :(

Jim and Martin that is very cool ! good for both of you to have a great piece of history in your possession.....

Carl ! oh the shame of it.....putty in your hands and...... ?

yes I kinda know this feeling when on one instance in southern California here was 1 Me 262 piot from KG 51 putting on a hwole interview and I couldn't even get his signature, and then the Tuskagee airmen of the 15th AF came a bit later and toally missed them out, about 8 of them. Boy was I fried !

What a great signature to get hold of ,well done Martin.

I have John Frosts signature as i have a copy print of Geoffrey Lea's Arnhem painting signed by him.

The only other Airborne one i have is Farrer the Para,........AKA General Sir Anthony Farrer-Hockley ,the Urquhart of my day in the British Army.

That's a nice print to have, Paul - Lea did it for the 50th Anniversary and the image has since been used on the cover of several books including the recent 'Battleground Europe' guide.
