Yeah, the Arsenal really need a good striker up front. They should get rid of Bendtner as well, with all my respect for the kid, he just isn't an Arsenal type of player. He's dead slow, some even call him 'the pedestrian'. I've noticed that each time he gets a touch on the ball, more or so often Arsenal lose it straight away.

Tevez would make an awesome addition to the Gooners squad, I think. He's fast, he's really hungry for success, he's agile, he's determined, unselfish, he's got a mighty eye for the goal, he's got passion, I mean, if Arsenal get their hands on him they'll just tear the Prem up.

Arshavin..hmm, I dunno, he usually plays pretty good against the big 4 teams. He should score at least 1, if not more. I'm really hoping for him to knock one home.

That cracker he thumped in the top left corner in the 2-1 win against L'pool at Anfield earlier on in the season was absolutely amazing, that made my week probably.

YouTube - Andrei Arshavin - The Russian Gunner - 0:52

Brilliant stuff. I'm pumped up for the game on Wednesday already. Arsenal v. Liverpool @ the Emirates.

At what time do they air it down in Florida? In Moscow it sgould be pretty late in evening, but down in the States you get the Prem earlier, 'cause you're out West
    Lucky Yankees :)

Tovarisch .....I had not realised just how little I cared about the Premier League these days until I looked at your you tube video of the Russian Arsenal player ...I'm being 100% honest in saying I have never heard of him and have already forgotten his name ( he also celebrates his goals in an annoying manner )...I'm obviously way out of touch these days ...thats what happens when you stop watching TV or reading newspapers .
Whatever happened to Malcolm MacDonald , Pat Rice , Liam Brady , Charlie George and the rest ..have they retired ?
I have never supported Arsenal and will never do so ...but why can I remember the names of at least 200 ex gunners and picture their faces ?....and yet not remember the names of my neighbours who I speak to regularly .
Strange how the ageing brain works ...its a bummer ...I need a memory upgrade .

I think it airs around 2:45 PM EST down here (I watch it on my PC at work, at least the 1st half) though usually I can catch it on TV (a rerun basically).

Arshavin was the key player for the Russian team that did mighty well in the European Cup...probably the best Russian player. He had a Russian Team mate (a striker) move to the EPL before he did but the guy is basically a flop (plays on the bench for Hotspurs). Arshavin netted 4 goals -yes, 4- in his debut vs. Liverpool. He's fully adjusted to the EPL now and has had some pretty amazing goals.

Tevez, while good, doesn't have size. We need a big man who can hold the ball and provide some aerial dominance. Arsenal is too short as a team. RVP is great at holding up the ball and is quick, with a rocket of a left foot, but we do miss an Adebayor type of player. Bendter, the Great Dane, is slow and his touch isn't great, but his does provide some good size up front. We really needed to sign a striker during the transfer window.

Agreed. I can't really see any especially tall strikers out on the market though. By 'tall' do you mean 'not short' or Adebayor, Peter Crouch-esque type of strikers?

Oh yeah, Pavlyuchenko's a failure in the EPL. He plays like a beanbag. Really lazy, laid-back football, I think he's just asking to get sacked. Tsk-tsk. Typical Spurs. Harry Redknapp was really ticked off with his enthusiasm :) Now he wants to get rid of him at all costs :) The Hammers wanted to buy him at one stage, to make him their main striker, but I'm glad they didn't 'cause he's a right plank.

After Arshavin there was a bit of a trend in buying Russian players, first Pavlyuchenko to Tottenham, Zhirkov to Chelsea, Bilyaletdinov to Everton. Bilyaletdinov's doing all right, but the first two (Pavlyuchenko and Zhirkov) just need to leave.

Pav hasn't really been given a chance in my opinion - When he has played games, he has scored goals. 14 goals last season, and 2 goals in 2-3 starts this season. Not a failure at all, just not given the chance.

Charlie George 1971..the only player Liverpool feared....Long haired nancy boy that he was...But he could score sitting on his bottom while playing chess. Now there was a player...Only one Arsenal have ever really had.

Bergkamp was magic, simply put. Even in his old age some of the moves and passes he could make - simply stunning. Ian Wright is another Arsenal Great, and you do have to throw Thierry Henry in the mix too while we're talking about strikers.

Absolutely right. Thierry was a great when he was wearing the red shirt with the cannon on his chest, but as soon as he moved to Spain he kind of faded away. His antics with Ireland recently have forced me to lose any respect for him whatsoever. That episode was debatable, however, I'm still inclined to believe the same way about him.

Tony Adams and David Seaman weren't bad also :)

Controversial, and the refs are the ones at fault for sure, but i've never seen him do such a thing prior to that. Would you consider Roy Keane a great player?

Not really no. My favourite United Players of the past would be Brian McClair, Gary Pallister, Bryan Robson and Ruud Van Nistelrooy. I'm not a fan of Dirty Players. Musso, he handled the ball, it might be the ref's fault for not spotting it but fact is he did it. Dont worry, he is a fantastic goalscorer for Arsenal and I know I'm completely biased but when your national team isnt that good and you miss an opportunity of a lifetime due to a controversial incident well you'd be annoyed too!!

Ruud van Nistelrooy....lol...talk about a cherry picker. And if we're talking dirty then you have to consider the entire Utd team. Rooney still has a bit of temper, but he has toned down greatly compared to his earlier days. Roy Keane, of course, probably being the dirtiest of the bunch (now since retired). How many careers did he officially end during his time?

Eh I'm gonna have to agree to disagree with that one mate. The ENTIRE team is not dirty.
