This sounds like the student test for Uranium Isotopes:
Basically the process is as follows
Lecturer hands student two lumps of Uranium and retires to a safe distance
Student (via megaphone) is instructed to bang them together
If the result is a dull clang, it is U-238
If the result is a half mile crater, its probably U-235

Whel modern army got more then few types of hand granates, but usualy they use 2 type:
1.Offensive-Lighter,plastic body, with alot small pelets, less explosives, lower kill range (presume, when ur in offensive ur cower is probably not so good)
    2. defensive-a bit heawyer, metal body, more explosives more killing range, stronger explosive charge (when u defend it is naturaly that u prepare good cower for u)
Trowing a granade is like trowing the rock.It was notthing interesting, pull the pin, trow the damn thing and get cower. For me much more adrenalin was in shoothing ...i dont know english word.....tromblon mine, from top of my rifle. It recoil really hard, and u can see how it flow trought the air and land on target (on 250m we hit target 10x10m,i was suprised)
