Operation Dodge involved the repatriation of British Army personnel from Italy to the UK, and took place from July/October 1945. The origin of the name may have been an ironic reference to the 'D-Day Dodgers' sobriquet.

My latest little item of Bomber Command memorabilia from e-bay : the No. 5 Group Roll Of Honour. It was privately published in 1950 after the memorial Ceremony at Lincoln Cathedral, 'in the hope that to the many who could not attend, it will prove a lasting consolation'. It's quite small, and simply lists the Service Number, Rank and name of every aircrew member of 5 Group who never came back - from the unknown and now forgotten to famous names such as '39438 W/C Gibson, G.P.'
