I think Brussels would be easier. I've been to Bovington in 2002 and transportation wasn't easy for me. Summer would be a good time i think.
What about "el Goloso" in Madrid? (Being at an army base i can enter for free  ) It even has it's own train station.
In Barcelona we have the Montjuic Castle, no tanks, but a good collection of "small" coastal artillery, small arms, and some medieval expositions. But "pacifists" are going to achieve their project to close it down because "it has nazi and fascist things" (#### fools).

Depending on work and family commitments, I might be able to get there too...

I think we need to settle it on Brussels for practical reasons, sorry for all those living a throw from Bovvie but a centrally located big city is simply more accessible. And now for the how, after which we will discuss the when, and then the who! (not the group. ;) )

I am perfectly willing to capitulate to Belgium. But I cannot guarantee getting there. I just hope my dad (who is also a WW2 fan) will get me there.

What I was thinking of is assembling at the train station nearest to the museum, which means for those who come by train that the route is fairly straightforward and those who come by other means would simply have to find some transportation from the airport to the station or directly to the museum. I doubt this will be very hard, since it's pretty huge and centrally located.

    I stand corrected.

"almost unique, only the second time etc etc"

(Roel are you currently experiencing bad weather in your part of the Netherlands? A weather picture on the BBC this morning showed overnight temperatures of -15 & 38cm of snow for the North East)

It's not that cold in the West where I live because of moderate North Sea winds, but elsewhere in the country temperatures have been -20 last night which is an absolute record for the Netherlands. ANd snow has been thick in the past three days, too.

Let's get back on the subject! :)

Nice weather, plus more conveniant for me...
My fiancee (I still get a kick outa saying that! ;) ) is in Norway for 2 weeks in May, so I can visit Belgium without any problem.

How VERY amusing. I am going to be in Belgium from 6-9th May on a school trip. Unfortunately I don't think I can go to the mueum, though, unless it is very near to Ypres, and I can escape.

Neither, if your school trips are anything like mine. ;)

Ricky found that the two weeks are actually 26th May to 6th June. This period doesn't give me much trouble (except for a test period  ), so how 'bout it?

3rd or 4th of June ok for you guys?

Our next question is how we get there - shall we all meet at the museum, or will all the British meet up on the way and arrive in a group?

The train station in question is a short walk from the museum and it's fairly huge, so I reckoned it would be more easily reachable by those from Britain.

3rd-4th June is fine by me, though 3rd is my birthday! ;)

The last of the national finals is on June 3rd, so June 4th is probably best.
