Actually, NM has quite some offensive firepower. It's typical for them to start the season slow, but once they get going, their scores are like 46-44 or 42-38. NM passed up 5 million to play the game in primetime-in San Antonio. Indicative of the anti business, anti establishment, thinking prevalent in the state.
Alright, week 3 is finished minus a few postponed games due to hurricanes. Ohio St. looked about as bad as you can against USC this weekend. Oreagon barly scrapped by with a win in 2OT (I didn't think it would get that far). My own Nittany Lions put up 55 pts again. Auburn and Mississippi St's score lookd more like a baseball score than a football score ending with an Auburn win 3-2. South Florida upset Kansas 37-34. And Illinios (Who I said doesn't belong in the top 25 after week one) barly scrapped by Louisiana-Lafayette 20-17.
The AP top 25 following 3 weeks of play 1. USC (61) 2-0 1,596 2. Oklahoma 3-0 1,485 3. Georgia (2) 3-0 1,437 4. Florida (1) 2-0 1,414 5. Missouri 3-0 1,389 6. LSU 2-0 1,274 7. Texas 2-0 1,140 8. Wisconsin 3-0 1,076 9. Alabama 3-0 982 10. Auburn 3-0 958 11. Texas Tech 3-0 904 12. South Florida 3-0 801 13. Ohio State 2-1 800 14. Brigham Young 3-0 788 15. East Carolina 3-0 781 16. Fresno State 1-1 121 Parentheses-first place votes last number is total votes
Yeah, alot of buckeye fans here were rabid after that game. At least Texas is looking decent even though I'm an Aggie.
If the Cow College doesn't find some kind of consistent offense, they are going to be suffering now that they are hitting the meat of the schedule.
Once again the nations third highest scoring offense kicked the snot out of another opponent. Penn State spanked Temple 45-3 today, putting up 31 of their points in the second quarter alone. East Carolina will probably drop out of the rankings now as they where upset by NC state. Alabama also put a large score as they stayed udefeated as well. Tonight's match up I'm looking forward to watching will be LSU and Auburn. Next week Penn State will begin their Big Ten schedual against Illinios finally knocking them out of the Top 25 if they dont drop out after this week. Is it just me or does Ohio State look extremly weak this year dispite all the hype?
I see Colorado snuffed out W.V. what happened there ? My Orygun looked like they were going to get ripped clean out of the stadium but almost caught up with hefty little Boise St who pulled it out by two points. Orygun will probably be off the charts now
It could have been worse. The Tide got down inside the Hog's 15 and let time run out instead of running another play or two. Two TD runs, one about 65 yards and the other 87. The Aub's defense looked mighty porous & their offense was hit or miss with emphasis on the "miss." It's not you.
Thanks Jeff, actually I know a few Buckeye fans and they all keep telling me I'm crazy. You just can't be that good when you can't beat the snot out of sup par teams. They keep winning, but it just looks ugly
AP top 25 after 4 weeks of play 1. USC (62) 2-0 1,621 2. Oklahoma 3-0 1,484 3. Georgia (2) 4-0 1,475 4. Florida (1) 3-0 1,442 5. LSU 3-0 1,363 6. Missouri 4-0 1,360 7. Texas 3-0 1,174 8. Wake Forest 3-0 711 17. Utah 4-0 574 18. Kansas 3-1 555 19. Boise State 3-0 363 20. Clemson 3-1 300 21. Vanderbilt 4-0 242 22. Illinois 2-1 224 23. East Carolina 3-1 201 24. TCU 4-0 117 25. Fresno State 2-1 105
What was ECU's coach thinking by having his team go for the TD on 4th down within the 5 yard line and up by 4 points with less than 9 minutes left to play in the 4th quarter? How could he give up a chance to go up by a TD? That made no sense at all and he really did a disservice to his team, ECU and Conference USA. I know mistakes happen but come on!
thanks Mike for posting the weeklies. I just don;t get how they come up with listing philosophy...........USC with 2 wins is ranked Numero # 1 ? I'd ask someone here to explain but with limited knowledge on all of this it would go in one side of the sphere and out the other
Not a problem there Erich. Unfortunatly, I can't help you with the rankings. I said since week one that Illinios doesn't belong in the top 25 but they stayed there all season
WOW! #1 USC fell last night to the Oregon St Beavers 27-21! USC was held to a total of just 86 rushing yards. They looked horrible in the first half going down by 21. They picked it up in the second half, but it was just too late. The last time Oregon St. beat a number one ranked team was 1967. This marks the second time in three years they have upset a top 3 ranked USC. What a game!
I didn't watch the game (forgot it was on) as we were at a Black Belt awards ceremony for my daughter then went out to dinner afterward. It's going to make the UA/UG game this weekend take on even more importance.
It's the biggest game to watch this weekend. I've heard many annalists saying to watch out for the Tide. They are going strong this year, and I think there even better than what people are thinking.
yes very interesting game I shut it off due to appts at the 1/2 my wife is a OSU alumni and she was screaming bloody murder. interesting that the Beavs threw off the ig boy trojans with a small running back. The Cali team really thought they could role over the orange men .......... like I said an interesting game
The USC game was only the beginning! Bama is going to beat #3 Georgia in about half an hour. Mississippi State shocked #4 Florida. Michigan beat #9 Wisconsin. The Midshipmen beat #16 Wake Forest. Maryland beat #20 Clemson. Houston beat #23 East Carolina. Fresno State and Auburn were very nearly upset as well. I think the top 3 when we see the next polls will show Oklahoma, LSU and Alabama each getting first place votes. The top 10 should get a really interesting new look!
