Yes Jeff, I was surprised at that. Auburn went up early but Vandy kicked and screemed and fought their way back on top. Wisconsin-Ohio St. is looking good. all tied up after three quarters. I didn't catch the Bama game but didn't Kentucky score late? I didn't think the game was as close as the score indicates. Could be wrong.
Yes, they caught the Bama secondary with their pants down late in the game. The Wildcats had like 20-30 yards rushing.

Kentucky fell out and the Cow College stayed in with two losses among 4 lackluster wins? A travesty. I was expecting The Crimson Tide to drop to 3 after our less than stellar showing. What's that strange team in at 13?
Frighteningly, I actually caught the hightlights of most of the games this weekend.... years since I've been in on US college game stats prior to the end of the season. Hmm I believe they said it 1912 since Vanderbilt had this good a season, Jeff. Must go do girlie stuff - must go do girlie stuff (dang other than shopping I'm having trouble thinking of a choice!)
Don't worry Jeff, sooner or later someone on that team will try to dunk it from midcourt I too am suprised at how well they have been doing. Then again, someone unheard of needs to stay playing pretty well. If we don't have a BCS buster this year we will never get a playoff system. Keep at it Brigham Young and Vanderbilt
I think we will see Alabama at number 1 come the next poll. I am picking Texas over Oklahoma this weekend. The teams are pretty well matched but Texas gets the win because of the home field advantage. I expect this to vault Texas to number 2 with Alabama the unanimous choice for number 1. And Florida will be beat LSU . . . .
I don't see the Crimson Tide at #1 if Texas puts a hurt on Oklahoma. It'll be Texas if they win. My money's (if I were a betting man) on the Bayou Bengals. The Swamp Lizards have some weeknesses, namely that they run only 5 plays - Tebow up the middle, Tebow to the right, Tebow to the left and short pass to the flats, left and right. My Avatar. The Bama Twins. Two sisters that didn't go to the Capstone were offered tickets several years back and they accepted. When they got to Tuscaloosa, the each bought a houndstooth hat a la Bear Bryant on a lark. Their seats were near a TV camera and it found them several times during the televised game. They have since come to most home games and the TV camera always finds them. From what I've read about them, they are good young ladies, not floozies.
You don't have to worry about them anymore. Vanderbilt lost to Mississippi St. today. dg, good call on Texas. OU had no running game today and lost by ten. Michigan is having an awful season as they lost at home today against Toledo Auburn lost to Arkansas as well. I though North Carolina vs Notre Dame was a pretty good game. I am curious as to how far Texas will jump up and to how far Oklahoma drops in the standings
Texas' position will depend a lot on Missouri and LSU, both of which (whom??) are losing at the moment. Bama should get number 1. They are off this week and everyone around them is losing. If Missouri and LSU both lose, Texas moves to 2. Penn State would then likely go to 3, Texas Tech to 4 and USC to 5. I would then bump FL to 6, BYU to 7, Georgia to 8. Still, a lot of football left to play tonight so that can still change.
I still hold that Texas will be #1. It is nice to see a team that the Crimson Tide beat the dog slobber out of carried Ol' Ears' boys to the woodshed today. Saw on a mid-game report that the Barn had only 83 total yards offense midway through the 3rd Q. Ouch! That is especially delightful considering Tubbs let his OC go this week. I'm glad to see that UF is controling LSU. Will benefit Alabama for LSU to lose, as all SEC West teams will have a loss except fro Alabama.
Interesting to see that team at 13 got "Croomed" this weekend. It happens every year. Some team underestimates Mississippi State and Sylvester manages to pull a win out of his butt.
I kind of agree with Jeff. I think Texas will jump to number 1 this week. I think that Bama having the bye this week will actually hurt them. I got Texas at 1, Bama 2, Penn State 3.

I was wrong but it was close! I agree that Bama's bye week hurt them. I am surprised (but pleased) that Florida jumped to 5.
Alabama still has to play LSU Penn St. Still has Ohio St. Texas has Oklahoma St, Missouri, Kansas, and Texas Tech. I told my brother my pre-season picks this year and I still hold them as true. For the National Championship I think(hope) we will see Alabama and Penn St. Texas has too tough a schedule ahead of them
I'm being frank here. I am not and was not expecting The Crimson Tide to finish in the top ten this year, so anything above that is more icing on the cake for me. I was expecting the better season to be next year or the next. Granted this season is not over and tough games still lie ahead, but they are looking better than I expected while the cow college has three engines shot out and the English Channel is still over two hundred miles away. Do you think Joe Paterno is going to hang up his cleats after this season? He's made a dang good run at it over his lifetime. Alabama used to play Penn State every season in the 1980s. It was a good series and we enjoyed playing them. They were a class act, reflective of their coach.
I think it is a toss up Jeff. Obviously a few years ago everyone was calling for his head. He has since come back and any questions about The game passing him by. His contract negotiations have been put off until the end of the season. I hope he does but at this point I'm not entirely sure. I think he enjoys the game far to much, and more than that the school. Over the years he has donated over 4 million to the school, and all his children have graduated from Penn St as well. That said his health is an issue. He has spent the last two games he has coached from the press box. Many people though think it is an extension of the injury he received on the sidelines last year against Wisconsin. The injury keeping him off the field this year is a different injury he received instructing the team in onside kicks about two weeks before the season started. He is a very healthy 81 years old. I remember a game last year when they counted his steps throughout the game and came to a total of almost four miles walking up and down the sidelines. JoePa has done enough for that school that I do feel he has earned the right to chose when he leaves. I do hope he comes back, but signs are pointing that he may well hang up the clipboard after this season. If he does to decide to retire, he will be missed. He has been a class act for decades and besides Bowden at Florida St, we will never see such class, longevity, or a devotion to the players as students first in our lifetimes.
