    PTs? Yeah, there was bunk spaces, engine spaces, a galley of sorts, etc. Think of it as a very aggressive cabin cruiser.

    "Ryan FR-1 Fireball. This was a naval fighter with a radial engine for takeoffs and landings, and a jet engine for high speeds. While 1,044 planes were ordered for the invasion of Japan in late 1945, only 66 were built when Japan surrendered. More advanced 'pure' jets quickly overtook the Fireball."

    The hybrids were
    The hybrids were what they looked like. A transitional aircraft...the jets were not powerful enough throughout the envelope...the airframes were yet to be designed for high speed...none really were promising...

    To my experienced eye that's a Sumner-class destroyer.
