"The Sd.Kfz.2 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 2) was a German half-track motorcycle with a single front wheel. Shown here pulling a trailer in Russia; 1943. The Sd.Kkz.2 was used to lay communication cables, pull heavy loads, carry soldiers through mud, as runway tugs for aircraft, and as post war farm tractors."

The Three Stooges had a bit where a French-designed two-man tank was being used to plow fields. The ground pressure was probably less than a steam tractor.

I wonder who remembers one of these in Saving Private Ryan?

This is the most famous, thanks to Cornelius Ryan, but hardly the only.(Priller's wingman was right there with him strafing).

The Germans flew some 300 sorties against the June 6th Normandy invasion.

"USS Kasaan Bay seen from USS Mission Bay and USS Tulagi following, 31 May 1944. The carriers had sailed from New York and were ferrying aircraft to North Africa. All wear MS 32 Design 4A camouflage scheme. Aircraft in the foreground are different models of Republic P-47 Thunderbolt."

    Sequencing is fubar.

I was younger than that the first time I swung a .50. Gunny "Myagi" hovered close.

    More data:

Josef "Pips" Priller was a German World War II fighter ace. He has become famous because of the publicity regarding his Focke-Wulf's Fw 190A-8's single strafing pass attack on Sword Beach on June 6, 1944 (D-Day), accompanied by his wingman Herbert Huppertz. This act was first brought to the world's attention by the book, and then the film, The Longest Day. Contrary to popular belief, Priller and his wingman were not the only Luftwaffe forces to attack the beachhead on 6 June 1944. A Luftwaffe bomber unit Kampfgeschwader 54 made several attacks on the British beachheads on D-Day. Priller was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves and Swords was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
