    Ferrets.

    there was a British army presence in Libya until the 60's, good training, here are a few Queens Bays ferrets in 1956.

    Merlin the pictures you took did you have to develop them yourself(actually I am pretty sure you said some of the pictures are from your friends, but the question is directed to you)? In Poland people developed their pictures into the 1970s probably evan later as if you wanted someone to develop them for you it would cost you lots of money.

    there was always Italians, enterprising arabs and such, always managed to get them developed, even in Barce which was 60K from the BIG city, Benghazi!!! Can't remember any problem, in any case, if we had developing fluid we'd have probably drank it!

    Merlin what does that say? I can only make out Italiana Chicken, a picture of what seems to be a chicken and V for victory.

    it was a very small photo but writing was in Italian, it translates as,
    American Tank,
    British Crew,
    Italian Bomb (explosion)
    Some Chicken.

    Thanks, that a pretty clever message.

    I think there was a Soviet plane during the cold war that had some pluids alcohol based i just cant remember what fluid, they called it the distillery.

    More photos I hope you'll find of interest, these are of the 17/21st Lancers in Germany 1952, (especially for 'MARLIN' who served with this elite regiment and took Chieftains to Vietnam!!!)

    My old 3ton Chev, rebuilt 8th Army workshops 1941 and me and mate Eddy with an artillary piece, any ideas? note chunks cut out of tyre rubber for Arab shoe repairs.
