Amazon.com: The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross: Dietrich Maerz: Books I want to buy it, what do you guys think?
I own a copy and it is now seen as the bible when it comes to collecting RK's. It goes into great detail about the various makes/makers of the RK and its various grades and the ways to tell which company made which version (i.e. flaws in certain areas of the Knights Crosses caused by the manufacturing process). It also explains the fakes. If you plan on buying a Knights Cross then you need this book with you.
This book doesn't deal with the Iron Cross. It only delves into the world of the Knights Cross and above. If you want a book on the Iron Cross see Gordon Williamson's The Iron Cross Of 1939 (ISBN: 0-912138-86-6) although it is becoming hard to find. Alternatively, register at the forum on Wehrmacht-Awards.com and the people on there will help you loads.
