The Chicago Trib acquired US war plans and published them on Dec. 4th, 1941. The Times Herald was owned by a "lady" who hated FDR.

    Just brutal.
Fascinating sensing the tide gradually turn, though.

They're not in chronological order, that's something I have to do some day, I wasn't planning on posting them anywhere this soon. To get them sorted by date: http://library.ucsd.edu/speccoll/dswenttowar/index.html#intro

Maybe coincidental, but still a feeling of more 'wartime' concerns building as isolationism fades a little.
Perhaps I'm just subconsciously applying timescales to each little bit of nastiness.

Dr. Seuss had a way of skewering the isolationists with a few brush strokes. I can't imagine anyone today is his equal.

Being there helped him "sync" his cartoons, no doubt about that. Having read the papers of the day I know he gauged the pulse of the country accurately.

Who were the US Nazis? Where'd they go once the US joined the war?

There were very few American Nazis. The people Dr. Seuss was after were the isolationists who believed that the affairs in Europe had no effect on the US. For more information, look at this Wiki article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_American_Bund

"The German American Bund, or German American Federation (German: Amerikadeutscher Bund; Amerikadeutscher Volksbund, AV), was an American Nazi organization established in 1936 to succeed Friends of New Germany (FONG), the new name being chosen to emphasise the group's American credentials after press criticism that the organisation was unpatriotic.[5] The Bund was to consist only of American citizens of German descent.[6] Its main goal was to promote a favorable view of Nazi Germany."

It was pointed out at the time that the GAB had more members than the Nazis had when they started out. When he says "Nazis" you could consider it the same as saying "Commies" a decade later, during the Red Hunt.
