I've got two GTX 260's in my machine - image quality goes way down when taking a JPG of the screen (not to mention shrinking the image from 1920 x 1200 down to fit on your screen). Trust me, they were on Ultra Settings.

I made it 20 years into the British campaign and I've gone bankrupt. My advisor tells me to scrap some of my military. I have the largest navy in the game, but my army just recovered from being outnumbered and beat on the field by the Huron nation. It felt like Custer's last stand.

The prestige list shows that I have the smallest army, and my navy is just large enough to hold back France so I'm thinking there must be a good way to support more troops on the field? I had 2 ships bringing in trade off of Cape Horn. I have built an infastructure (farms, plantations, mines) as far as my money and technology would allow.

The other question that I have playing as the Brits is, is there a way to get more than one school researching technologies? Cambridge is the only school that I see that can research the technologies. I know other nations can research more than one technology at a time.

Yes to all - as Prussia I generate close to 4500 Gold in trade. I have two Indiamen (Trade Ships) - one in South America, one in East Africa that provide me with Ivory and Sugar (I think). I also have Trade Agreements with every possible faction that I can...an Icon in the diplomacy Screen shows with whom you can trade.

Your navy could be perhaps too big - ship upkeep costs are a pain. I'd also use Miltia to garrison cities away from conflict zones - cheaper upkeep. And disband Demi-cannons and other 'old' units.

As far as research, you need to build a School when a new town emerges, or destroy the current building and stick a School in its place.

As Prussia, I currently have 3 or 4 research centers - two in Berlin and two in capture territory.

I am about to get a new desktop. Dell are doing a deal at the moment, with a machine with the following specs:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Core Processor Q8200 (2.33GHz, 1333MHz, 4MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 - English
    20in S2009W WIDESCREEN UK Black (1600 x 900)
    512MB ATI™Radeon™ HD 4670 graphics card
    3072MB 1067 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [3x1024]
640 GB Serial ATA non Raid (7200 Rpm)

Do you think it will run this ok?

Thanks, mate. I thought as much, but I have seen so many varying descriptions of what will/won't run it.

I am not too familiar with AMD cards but it sounds like it should work.

In other news, Vive le Revolution! (or however you say that in German). My massive Prussian Empire (17+ Million Strong) decided to have a Revolution. I apparently educated them too much. Against my better judgment, I sided with the Rebels - and won! I then executed the King and installed a Republic. I also got to change my flag, from a Prussian Flag to the German Flag (Red/Black/Orange). Woohoo.

    A fun battle just then;
I had around 500 line infantry as the British. I invaded the Leeward Island which where garrisoned with around 800 Pirates. I won and killed the entire army. I lost around 200.
Bayonets are a must have! if i did not charge at the end I would have lost.

Here a two from my current campaign as the Prussians. Post-Revolution, thus the German flags. The thing to note here is that, at the time of these screenshots, I have NO NAVY.

Truth be told, the USA almost did decide on German being their national language! But yes, I am conquering North America WITH OUT a navy!

I wish I was doing a real AAR of my Austria right now. Some pretty interesting things have occured! After the Inuit Indians I will attack either the Pirates in Antigua or the Austrians!

It's like Rorke's drift all over again. :(

I landed a force of around 700 in Texas thinkign the natives would not put up much of a fight. When an army of over 1000 massacred my entire force, I was not happy.
    I'll be back.

LOL! Same thing happened to be landing 7 units (2 Line Infantry, 2 Cav, 3 Militia) in the Inuit Lands above Newfoundland. I got attacked by 2 armies at once - some even had muskets. My troops foot bravely, but were also massacred!

I did exact revenge! Landed a force consisting of a General, 4 Heavy Cav, 2 Mortars, 4 Horse Drawn Cannons, 7 Line Infantry, and 1 Grenadier. I engaged one Inuit Army (they attacked me) once I landed. Watching my box formation Volley Fire into the ranks of the Injuns (who are like ninjas, remaining invisible until they engage you!). I routed that Army, then attacked their city. That was the opposite...I lost 97 men and killed close to 2000 of theirs. And then the Inuits were no more!

Here are two images (higher quality PNGs) showing my defenses before and after the Indian attack.
