The FIA confirmed on Wednesday that from next season Formula One engines must last for three Grand Prix meetings. Engines were required to last for two events in 2008.
I'm annoyed as several F1 teams were testing at the old airfield at Kemble last week & I didn't know until it was all over. AT&T Williams F1 - Kemble Shakedown
There he goes again.... Bernie Ecclestone receives support for Formula One gold medal plan: Formula One - Telegraph Bernie Ecclestone said he has received overwhelming support to change the points system in Formula One and award gold medals to race winners. Ferrari's Felipe Massa, who won his home race in Brazil, would have been champion under a medals system since he had six victories to the Briton's five. Under Ecclestone's Olympic-style system, the top three drivers in every grand prix would get gold, silver and bronze medals instead of 10, eight and six points. Those who finished fourth and below would not get points towards the drivers' championship but their placings would count for the overall rankings.
Well he has to think up some mad ideas at the moment as old Bolt has split from his wife. I don't think the teams will go for it...
Hamilton has good taste... Hamilton looking forward to Finland | Mercedes-Benz News Hamilton will be joined by Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team-mate Heikki Kovalainen and test drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett for the camp at the Kuortane Sports Institute in western Finland. The Brit has stated that during the camp the drivers spend time testing their own core strength and flexibility, while also completing further exercises that are of benefit when they get into their formula one car. He said: "Travelling to Finland for our winter training camp is one of the best weeks of the year for me; it feels like you’re miles from anywhere and totally cut off from the outside world. It allows me to focus solely on my training, which is great. "It’s certainly not an easy week: Finland in the winter is cold and icy and we’re pushed hard for day after day." Hamilton is also on course to be crowned Sports Personality of the Year after becoming world champion this year. The event takes place on December 14th. ------- I think McLaren started this tradition with Mika Häkkinen and it seems they don´t like to take it elsewhere....
I see Alonso has threated to quit F1 in 2010 if the spec engine comes in. And the bad news keeps coming, Honda looks like there about to go under.
Honda out. Renault still considering next season....20 years ago there were more teams in F1 (20) than there are drivers (18) now...
BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula One | F1 unveils cost-cutting blueprint A raft of measures have been agreed that should cut the budgets of Formula One teams by at least 30%. From 2010 there will be a ban on refuelling and, subject to market research, Grand Prix distances could be shortened.
Well they did race with out fuel stops many years ago. One thing is for sure the races will be a lot shorter.

Are is this the plan to get out of the non smoking Europe? Looks like it, I hear Russia could be on the agenda in 2012 or a bit later.
What do you guys think of the new aero rules package from an appearance standpoint? From what I've seen so far I like the way the new cars look without all the bargeboards & winglets etc, & really like the fact that slicks are back, but the narrow rear wings look amateurish, like they stole them off of some lower formula car or something. I guess if competition is closer I'll like the new package ok. I don't like the current engine rules, particularly the fact that V8s are mandated & revs are restricted. I don't much like the look of the daytona prototypes, but love hearing the different engine notes. But no matter how much I might bitch, unlike the vast majority of Americans I still love F1 far greater than NASCAR & think it's a terrible shame that there are no GPs in North America, even though the last one I was able to attend was the Debacle at Indy in '05...
BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula One | F1 to scrap 'bad' pit lane rule Good, this is one silly rule we need to see the back of.
