Two 'modern' aircraft which caught my attention at an early age ( well, they were modern when I was a youngster ) were the F-111 and the Jaguar. I was such a sucker for variable geometry wings when I was a toddler, or 'swing-wings' as I used to call it. I'm not quite sure about what I found so attractive about the Jaguar, but I do know that I like it.
The planes are b-52 bomer and ??stelth bomer of the u.s airforce and the S-37 of the russian airforce
I like odd looking aircraft and they just don't make them like they used to. I would have to say the Eurofighter, at least it has that huge square shovel hanging beneath it to break up those otherwise clean (and boring) lines.
In no particular order... *Chance-Vought F8-E Crusader *Hawker Hunter F-6 *General Dynamics F-16C Fighting Falcon *Sukhoi Su-27 *deHavilland DH-100 Vampire *Bell AH-1 Cobra Gunship *Cessna A-37 Dragonfly *Convair B-58 Hustler Tim
These are at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. F-4D Phantom of the Alabama Air National Guard at the gates to the park. B-52 and C-47 F-14 Tomcat, F-18 Hornet prototype, SH-2 Navy helicopter, and Korean War F-4U4 Corsair F-16, P-51 Mustang, F-9 Panther, F-8 Crusader and submarine USS Drum. SR-71 with unidentified engine, F-105D Thunderchief behind it and USS Drum in background. Most all of the aircraft received minor damage during Hurricane Katrina.
Nice. Most Gate Guardians in the UK these days are apparently being replaced with fibre glass replicas. Somehow loses the magic knowing you're looking at nothing more than a giant Airfix kit but I can appreciate it if the originals are going somewhere to be preserved.
