Gravity doesn't count? One question though...how long can the X-43 maintain Mach 9.6? (On that note... How long does it generally take for the shuttle to touch down?)
Complete landing procedure...from first maneuvre for landing....about 4 hrs! http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/shuttle/tec ... f-toc.html btw 70,220 (m·s−1), 252,792 (km·h−1) the Speed of the Helios 2 solar probe—Fastest man-made object...according to wiki (the other source came from NASA) How long the X-43 flies on own power...don't know!
My point is, a true fighter needs at least some armament. One Vulcan, yes, but F16s also have Sidewinder, Sparrow and AMRAAM missiles, which are more than enough to make up for the lack of guns all over it's airframe. The Mig 25A still has missiles, which is enough. The other Foxbat variants-well they're not actually fighters, now are they? Ome Joop, what you might have missed in my statement is that I said at least. If they can do better than a few machine guns, and some examples are missiles and cannon, than they're definetly true fighters.
Blaster, Your exact words were: I would say that means more than one otherwise you would have said: True fighters need at least a machine gun
Thanks. Wow, I'm learning a lot here, from military stuff (duh), to good posting choices to even how to really type your opinion!
