    as you are interested as well in the Kriegsmarine and I have not looked into this but any Flems or Belgians volunteer for KM service as well as wearing the respective colours on the sleeve ? again I have not searched into this which would be quite interesting if indeed true ... ~

    thumbs up herr thanks for a look at the posters covering the Flems. yes I thought so....not one countries volunteer shield worn on the sleeves of the white/blue KM tunics in comparison to the Heer and W-SS

    no worries Erich, I found a Flemish forum with quite some details of Flemish Kriegsmarine volunteers in it, but it has been taken offline recently and I didnt save the info GRRRRrrr
    I did read there , I think, that some serbs wore unofficially their shield.

    The only other organization I can think off that wore the lion patch was the NSKK.

    Probably pre WWII but this is a Flemish isignia for Flemish pilgrims to Lourdes (mostly army and pathfinders , usually from conservative families)

    i suppose we only have an idea as to why the majority of individuals joined the foreign ss, each one would have had their own reason.
    i wonder how many would have offered the uniform as an explanation?
