The German military had many foreignors both early and later into the war. In the Kriegsmarine(German Navy) they had over 4000 Norwegian foreign volunteers.
Also German Navy had The Croatian Naval Legion (Croatian: Hrvatska pomorska legija) was a contingent of volunteers from the Independent State of Croatia that served with Nazi Germany's navy, the Kriegsmarine, on the Black Sea and Adriatic Sea during World War II.

Then you have the Legions of the Wehrmatch (Legions titled "of the Wehrmatch" are military formations within the German Standard Army . Then you have Legions titled Legion with nothing after it. (This means it is a entire Corp of soldiers operating independently from the Wehrmatch but we're trained and equipped by the Wehrmatch and were obectivly inline with combat operations that benefited Germany and foreign combative assistance operations funded by Germany . But they were not apart of the German Standard Army combat operations in Europe but instead a volunteer fighting force that had fought under the German banner for their own personal objectives while simultaneously serving the Germans by fighting colonialist allied forces such as Great Britain and Free French Army .)
    1. Free Indian Legion
    - fought British backed insurgents in India.
    2. Free Arabian Legion
-fought the Free French Army in North Africa and Syria and the Levant what is now Lebanon.

    3. Turkemen Legion of the Wehrmatch
Fought under operational command of the Wehrmatch and was apart of the German Military Ground Fighting Force.

    4. Armenian Legion of the Wehrmatch
    - Was a Wehrmatch Legion that was in joint operations with the 812th battalion belonging to the Free Arabian Legion and the Armenian Legion of the Wehrmatch was also Attached to the 812th Battalion aka "Armenian Legion" that was apart of the Free Arabian Legion.
The 812th Battalion was apart of the 5th Street Fighters Corps of the Free Arabian Legion ( Corp designed to combat against resistance rebel insurgency of resistance fighters or communist partisans or in direct combat operations against the Soviet Unions Red Army.

    5. Georgian Legion of the Wehrmatch nicknamed The Georgian Legion by Adolf Hitler was a Divisional fighting force comprised of special ranking systems and independent foreign recruits ages 22-39. Those who were under age 22 could not enlist in the 2nd Attachment Corp of the Georgian Legion which was attached to the 20th command of Infantry forces in the Wehrmatch and took part in joint combat operations with standard Germanic Divisional soldiers that are in the standard German fighting force aka Wehrmatch.

    6. Azjerbaizan Legion of the Wehrmatch
    - Was a military formation under the Wehrmatch and took part in military operations spearheaded by the Wehrmatch. One of the unique things about the Azjerbaizan Legion of the Wehrmatch is that it had a Infantry combat field attachment of 3 Regiments all 3 Regiment's took part in combat operations against Allied forces in France and Italy. One of the known units dubbed the " Reinforcment Regiment consisting of 800 men was a mix of Germans and other nationalities and races and was created as a
" obsorbiant unit " (which meaning in , it was designed to take in both Germanic and non-Germanic foreigners,
It was comprised of Iranians , Islamic Indians, Thai Muslims , Muslim Turkish Gypsies, and Germans who were part Jewish and the unit accepted Gypsys who been originally kicked out of Wehrmatch but we're later re-instated back in during September 27th 1941.

    Spanish Blue Division

Was a Infantry fighting force within the German Army.

In all my final conclusion I can lend you is that if you do research and just go on google and type in foreign volunteers of German Military during WWII you will soon find out a bunch of categories will pop up like " Non-German units ect ect.

For the Germans / SS it was a case of recruiting those whom they considered ethnically clean and those who were less so - a two-tier approach - what motivated them was a need to recruit troops.
This book looks at the recruitment and motivation of the men who enlisted, the military use and attitude of the SS towards them - a rather scholarly approach to this difficult subject.
Time only to post this at present. IMG_3136.JPG IMG_3138.JPG IMG_3139.JPG IMG_3137.JPG

I guess communism was often considered more bad than SS. That is why people joined them also thinking they woukd get independence that way? Just what can you say.
