    I think we have covered this subject about 9 ways to Sunday. My big issue with the OP is the voracity of his post.
    I spent some time looking at Soldbuchs and various forms of Third Reich ID. The ones that I found, which appeared to match the OP's description, were pretty benign.

    My Grandfather, paternal, was a German POW ( albeit Heer, I think).

    I think there were too many assumptions made and conclusions jumped to as a result of the OP's attitude. There are two ways to look at this: we have either exposed a fraud/ fan boy/ troll or we have made a young man resent his grandfather and feel ashamed.

    As soon as I read the comment "awesome", it occurred to me that there was a linguistic problem, in that the OP, not having English as a first langage, does not appreciate the distinction between "awesome" and "awful". I still hold to that view.
