    Hello all,

At the moment I'm reading Heinz Knoke's memoir I Flew for the Fuhrer, which focuses mainly on daylight battles with the USAAF over Germany in 1943 and 1944. I was wondering if anyone could recommend German memoirs which deal with other theatres/operations, such as:

    France/Low Countries 1940
    Battle of Britain
    Eastern Front
    Mediterranean/North Africa
    Atlantic
    Nachtjagd

I guess you mainly want Luftwaffe memoirs, but...

Deadalus Returned By Baron Von Der Heydte is an interesting account of the battle for Crete from his view as a commander in the Fallschirmjager.

Luftwaffe Test Pilot by Hans-Werner Lerche is good and KG-200 by P.W. Stahl is good too. KG-200 flew agents behind allied lines.
    Both are published by Janes

    For the night air war:

The Other Battle by Peter Hincliffe

    Bombers Over berlin Alan Cooper

Night Airwar and Nagdjagd both by Theo Boiten

And of course Enemy In The Dark by Peter Spoden ( http://www.nachtjaegerspoden.de/index.html)

I am sure Martin and Erich will be able to add a library to these titles...

7./NJG 5 (friend) Günther Wolf " Turbulenzen eines flieger-lebens " his full life and a terrible ending for Günther in a Soviet prison

Hajo Hermann " Eagles Wings " good book

Heinz Rökker " I./NJG 2 " this is really more than the pilots account(s) as it covers his gruppe and his 2nd staffel during the war....

Adolf Galland " First and the Last " A classic I guess.........

Adolf Dickfeld "Footsteps of the Hunter " most probably in my opinion the worst personal acct of a book I have ever read, and this coming from a RK winner. the book gives no dates and jumps haphazardly throughout........yuk !

Fritz Engau " Frontal Durch Die bomberpulks " an ace with I./JG 11 flying the Fw 190A, Staffelkapitän I believe, giving his first person horrors of flying against US heavy bomber formations and Allied escorts........excellent !

Mano Ziegler JG 400, " Rocket Fighter "

RK winner Wolfgang Späte " Test Pilot " covers the test kommando 10 and of course JG 400's ill-fated history. Great photos by the way.......

several anyway here, the guys are listing some great works

I also wanted to add that RK winner Lippert did a self-book through Schiffer pubs about his service flying the Bf 109G on the Ost front. may have the particualrs incorrect on this.

Ace and RK winner Edu Neumann also was one of the prime stars on a book covering the Luftwaffe in the Afrika Campaign with him as ? CO of JG 27 in the air units early war years....
