Not at all... in fact I think they were just as evil, the only difference is that Stalin was on the good side and not the bad. Where did you get this number?
Approximately 11 million people were killed because of Nazi genocidal policy. It was the explicit aim of Hitler's regime to create a European world both dominated and populated by the "Aryan" race. The Nazi machinery was dedicated to eradicating millions of people it deemed undesirable. Some people were undesirable by Nazi standards because of who they were, their genetic or cultural origins, or health conditions. These included Jews, Gypsies, Poles and other Slavs, and people with physical or mental disabilities. Others were Nazi victims because of what they did. These victims of the Nazi regime included Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals, the dissenting clergy, Communists, Socialists, asocials, and other political enemies. A Teacher's Guide to the Holocaust-Victims Here's a list of: The worst genocides of the 20th Century Showing Hitler at 12 million and Stalin at 13, yet other sources indicate up around 20 and 30 million for Stalin. The worst genocides of the 20th Century
It doesnt seem that 28 million Russians which perished fighting Hitler and his armies are in this 11 million figure, who is reponsible for their deaths?
No it doesn’t. I perceived the context as murder/genocide excluding battle. I didn’t find any numbers close to 60 million Col. Hessler mentioned on Stalin. If it includes battle, Hitler’s eleven million would need revising.
Exactly the answer I was looking for...... Also not too excuse the exterminations conducted by Stalin. But one has to consider the time frame in which they took place. Stalin was in power for 28 years.
Good stuff guys,. I like this debate as it is good to see some facts coming out, however the problem that troubles me is how does anyone know how many were killed, all we go on is what history tells us. Since reading up on documentation that has been released over the past few years it sometimes troubles me as to what we have been told in the history books. I always remember a wise man telling me that history is writen by the victors, this is indeed true, imgane if the war was lost and Germany thrived, we would have seen leaders from all countries tried for war crimes by the Nazis and history would have been diferent. It troubles me when it comes to who killed how many and who was right and who was wrong. We have been brought up knowing how many Stalin killed, from my research he killed around 40 million of his own. Then we have Hitler and the Nazi party, he is supposed to have killed millions also. The concentration camps resulted in 6 million deaths of jews, gypsies and other nationalities, yet official records now state that the figure was around 1.1 million which is the figure that the Nazis clamied died in the camps origianly. Going back to Eichmann, I also read that he was shielded by the CIA and not just him, many Nazis were shielded in return for betraying the Third Reich and this may have included Hitler himself. A good follow up is the thread http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-general/10219-possible-hitler-died-43-a.html It kinda takes on this thread about shielding Nazi leaders. Dan
