    thanks Skipper,seen many battlefields,and so on,but this place Oradour had the greatest impact on me ,I want to show some pictures ,but I am new and don't know where to post them

    Heh heh, thats also probably where that myth got started in that these were made for the SS.

    I saw your pictures about Oradour, Pierre, you did a good job . I took the liberty to merge them pics with existing threads about this tragedy. Thanks for reminding us about this . It should never be forgotten.

    Forgot to mention earlier but, according to what ive read about them, only appx 2,000 were produced.

    you are correct on the grips , they are probably after market replacements, some of the original wooden grips where replaced by the black ones but are not original to the gun :bow:

    The Luger I had also had the black grips but its been about 12 years since i last owned one and I cant remember if they were wooden grips painted black or were made out of an ebony-colored wood?

    I cant speak for your luger ,but the aftermarket replacements in the war are the same materials as the P.38 grips

    Ahh, thanks Pierre and you would be talking about Bakelite grips. My P-38 has the brown bakelite grips and my Luger had Wooden grips ;-))
