The Fa 223 that crossed the English channel was no. 14 by it's german crew of 3and arrived at Brockenhurst , Hampshire in Sept. 45, it was destoryed in Oct. same year during trials. BTW many of the planes collected by the brits were destroyed during evaluation and trials, what do that means?, dumbs brits?
among other things: air to air missiles, X-4, R4M air launched missiles, Fritz X,Hs 293 surface to air missiles, Enzian,Wasserfall cruise missiles, V1 missiles with a TV camera to be guided by remote control, the Hs 294
No, because they were also trialing them on taking shots and such, and because stolen equipment was always expendable. The most extreme tests were taken off by these machines.
The Germans also made a recoilless gun of 365mm and 10meters long called the G 104. It was put on an aircraft and then the plane would dive and shoot at its target, specifically a ship, but none ever entered service. Does anyone have a pic of this weapon? Another weapon is a predessor of an American weapon in devolpment today. The Gustloff Reichswerk HF 15 could fire 36,000rpm of 15mm caliber.
I am fascinated. please tell me more of the use of such a gigantic weapon. On what plane could it possibly be installed?
If it's 10 meters long, then there is not a chance that such a medium/light bomber could carry it. By the way this highly superior plane had become very rare by the end of the war, for some reason.
I say the JU 88 because it could carry a decent payload and could still dive somewhat. This weapon was meant to be used in a dive bomb, and the something like the Condor would never be able to dive. BTW, the Germans designed a Condor that was actually 2 condors fused together at the wingtips. It was meant to bomb New York.
I'm looking for more info on the weapon, but its been useless so far. If I find anything I'll be sure to post it. Sorry to leave you guys hanging.
for Zukov_2003, as far as I know, the project zwelling involved a He 111, a Bf 109, a Me 309, a Do 335,a Ju 290 but a condor, nope haven't hear of it. the Amerika bomber was actually a Me 264, but also a proposed FW desgin the Ta 400, the Ju 390 and the furturistics Ho XVIII B-2 and the Ar E-555
come on guys, a 365 mm gun, and in a plane?????? . According to the books I have the biggest gun proposed by the germans, includes 50,75 and the 88, this been the dusenkanone recoilles gun.
I found anothers: Gerat 104, firing a 1,400 AP 35cm shell, so complex it was a one shot only, and was a recoilles gun!!!!! Munchausen, this name sound familiar ,I wonder why????? a 54 cm gun to be slung under a stuka Ju87,
The german HDP Hochdruckpumpe. A super canon split in sections each section had a extra laterale chamber (fishbone idea) wich consisted explosives. It worked as follows; the grenade was launched in the original chamber and passing each section the explosives detonated. This build pressure to a grenade velocity of 1500 m/s. The gun was 50 metre long and the calibre was 150mm. Range 150 km. Rheintochter R1 2-step sam, range 6 km, explosive charge 125 kg. Feuerlilie F-55 650kg range 6000-9000m only two for testing build. Schmetterling HS-117 ? Someone knows more? Rheinbote weight 1650 kg, length 14,7m, range 160km warhead 44kg. Issued on 20 november 1944 for production 200 produced all fired at Antwerpen (belgium). This missile could be aimed very precisely.
