    Here's my humble opinion.
All uniformed forces (including the Police, Fire Services etc) need a formal recognition of bravery.
The Iron Cross is universally recognised the world over as an award for bravery and service.
It has origins that go back to 1813 and as such is important to the heritage of German armed forces.
The current German Army is well respected by other countries.
As you can guess, I am quite pro Germany issuing a new Iron Cross.

    Alan, from England

Hi Onething, good points on all fronts. Im a bit like Alan from Eng, and feel that the Germans should have stuck to awarding the Iron Cross a bravery award even though like you said-at least you guys now have one even if it aint the EK ;-)) For me-I just can't see why they couldn't have stuck with the 1957 version of the EK-but with the National colors of the German flag as the ribbon colors instead of red black and white-or simply go back to the black and white ribbon.'

I say this because the red, black and white as well as the various grades of that decoration was worn by WWII vets serving in the new versions of the German Armed Forces. Since it was allowed and accepted for those men to wear these-I can't see why not allow the continuation of allowing them to be worn.
I suppose there are no new versions of the three grades of the Wound Badge, nor any of the Qualification Badges--available??

I know versions ARE available-but only as Beret Badges. I have one for a Fallschirmjager that I have mounted to one of my caps.

Something about that Diving Eagle badge really is - well, kuhl ;-))

I say amen to that too guys. This 1813 symbol should return and people should be informed it is NOT a Nazi symbol.
