Hey everyone! I can't find much information on the Grossdeutschland division and I was wondering if anyone could help. So far this is all I know: formed out of Wacht-Regiment Berlin, no fighting in Poland but had a few motorized units go there after it's occupation(I think), became an Infanterie-Regiment in 1940 and saw action in the Invasion of France, supported the 7th Panzer Division in the first opening stages of Operation Barbarossa, redesignated a Panzer-Grenadier Division in 1943, held out long enough for the SS to retreat from Kharkov, elite and heavily equipped, part of it was Hitler's guard until the last few days of the war, pretty much annihilated near Pallau in March 1945. I know that's a lot, but if anyone has anything to add please feel free to do so.
Is this your way of saying that you know nothing about the Avatar for your screen name; other than it's a really bitchin' uniform? By the by, "Google" lists 29,900 topics concerning "Grossdeutchland"
The basics: Axis History Factbook: Infanterie-Regiment (mot) Großdeutschland Axis History Factbook: Infanterie-Division Großdeutschland (mot) Axis History Factbook: Panzergrenadier-Division Großdeutschland and of course Wiki: Infantry Regiment Großdeutschland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia You'll have to be more specific as to want you want, because there are several books written on this unit.
No, I'm just really wanting to find order of battle and other specifics, not just the basic history. I know about Grossdeutschland, I'm just wanting to find more information. As for everyone else, thanks for the links!
